Vegas wins record cash haul in September

Record haul for Nevada sports books in September (aka, why you should put down the parlay cards)

The $571 million bet on sports in Nevada last month was the highest amount since the state began tracking the total handle in 1984.

The strong numbers could put a dent in the argument that expansion of legalized sports betting would put a dent in Nevada’s sports betting industry. Instead, it may have increased interest. Time will tell.

Depending on how you look at it, the books won (or bettors lost) $56.3 million, also a record, with football accounting for $44.34 million of that.

As Dave Tuley points out in the story, and Brent pointed out to Jimmy Vaccaro multiple times later Tuesday, the books kept 60 percent of the money bet on parlay cards.

Numbers will only get bigger over time in my opinion with the betting Apps and the introduction to many new players to the sportsbetting world with philosophies and laws changing
