The staff didn’t do enough to prevent the tragic death of a kid who’s family put their trust in them to watch over their son. Heatstroke death should never happen at a major D1 program. What specifically did the staff do wrong?
There had to be water, shaded areas and trainers on the field during the practice.
Does anyone know the specifics?
Stuff like this happens every year on high school level too.
Some athletes just can’t dissipate the heat build up.

No one dies playing soccer in Libya from heatstroke. And is 125 degrees there most of the time.
The player must know when is hot and hydrate himself with water instead of Diet Cokes. A coach cannot oversee a player 24/7 to make sure he drinks water.

Had a guy on my team back in the day that kept overheating.
Dude was 230# and 5% body fat....great shape..... yet when it came to the end of running sprints he would stop sweating and overheat and several times it got very ugly very quick. Several trips to ER
Turned out his body didn’t produce an enzyme that would help him to sweat.
Guy eventually quit football and only threw discus and shotput.

it seems to me that protesters pile on situations like this but by and large ignore stuff done elsewhere (maybe its not protesters at fault but the general public not caring in the least).

You know if you are going to play D1 football that you will be encouraged to push your body to the extreme in order to better you and your team.
The line is not clear
It is blurred
You can opt out and play D3 and put studies ahead of training.
This was an unfortunate incident

They're were articles a while back, not too long after the death, about the atmosphere. If guys fell down or stopped coaches would just rip into them and humiliate them. There was one story about a guy passed out and a coach started mocking him as he was down. Just sounds like a bunch of goons who really don't care about the players running the program. WTF do 90% of the kids on campus know about training for Big10 football let alone NFL ambitions.
Unreal overreaction to a travesty and itll cost Maryland $$$ and 5 years setback for a program that has a few significant wins of late.

It's a sad story but there are 1000s of 19 yr olds willing to do this to get a shot at NFL.
A coach cant know the physical limitations of every guy especially if the other 99.9 % of players are able to handle the tasks at hand.

The Marines have the same training. Drill sergeants scream at you all the time. The football player didn't die from exhaustion. He died from not drinking water.
