and the funny part is besides the cardinals all the teams who drafted a qb in the top ten this year all have more wins than the giants if darnold becomes anything they could regret this decision for the next 15 years with him playing in the same stadium it could be like when the trail blazers picked bowie over jordan or oden over durant

Putting the blame on Manning is just lazy and not factual... I realize the NFL today is always about
the QB and that's who we look to lead the team but in this case, the Giants are just not a fully
together unit on either side of the ball. They have not jelled because they are new. You have lots of new
players trying to beat established coaches and teams with a new team and new coach. So it's a lot harder
to overcome the weaknesses of the team or discover them without losing. It is too early to have playoff expectations.
Every franchise goes through a rebuilding phase that takes time to bear fruit. That's where the Giants are, the challenge now is to leave the talent in place, resist the temptation for quick fixes that won't work, and let the team learn how to play together and mature. Of course part of that is to discern Beckham and Manning's role. It is unusual and quite new for rookie QB's to have as much success as they are this season, that is because the rules and play are softer on them, especially on QB's and receivers.. that is all borne out in the stats and is obvious. But the Giants best road is not with a 21 year old QB. Perhaps they can trade Beckham and beef up some issues on the OL or the backfield. They need leaders everywhere. Keep Barkley. Of course they shold be planning for the future and that means ditching Manning.
I'm not against moving him out next year because he is not the QB who will be there when they reach maturity as a team in 2-3 years, but it shouldn't be a rookie either. A vet with 6-10 years left is what they need at QB. Even though the team is losing, the season is not a loss. The players and coaches are developing their identities on the field and this is necessary.

You’d have to be embarrassed if you’re a giant fan right now.
4 wins in like 2 years. No clue how Shermur got the job but obviously huge mistake as I’ve said from day 1. OBJ screaming on the sidelines AFTER a Barkley TD Eli Apple screaming on sidelines! Shits just funny to watch.

Will battle the cowboys for last place

Lol did you actually watch Peyton play his last season? That Denver team dragged Peyton's broken down body to a championship.

Eli is getting bashed on this thread and rightfully so but am I the only one here that thought the play calling was horrendous last night? Sure Eli shoulders the blame but his coach has just as much if not more.

its easy for these squares to blame it all on Eli meanwhile we have a D-Coordinator calling the softest Cover 3 zone on literally every play. Fuckin disgrace

This is a situation where several things can be true

Eli is horrific and has been for years
He can not throw the ball with any velocity or accuracy and is the worst in the pocket QB I have ever seen
He cannot read coverages and refuses to throw the ball down the field
Even with a great O line he would be terrible

    His O line is horrific
They can't run or pass block
Barkley is so good that he gains yardage on his own

Shurmur is just another case of an old recycled white guy getting hired despite being a clown most of his career
One decent year in Minny and he is a hot coaching commodity for some reason

The Giant organization has not addressed the QB situation that has needed a change for many years
They fired Coughlin who won them 2 Superbowls for a complete bozo
At the very least they should have offered him an operations manager job
like Jacksonville did and look what he has done there
The O line has been trash for years
And they sign Beckham with no way to get him in the ball
The only way he is worth the cancer he brings to a team is if he is in an offense that gets him the ball often and down the field

ALL of these things are why the Giants are possibbly the worst team in football the last 2 years and for the foreseeable future

If I had any Giants say so
Keep Beckham and shut him up
Give Barkley the building and anythign else he wants
Draft and free agency your way to a D powerhouse
and be the Giants we all know and love pound the run hit obj on Play action and pound the opp with a brutal D

This is just nonsense - Flacco when push 2 the edge is very good - look at his playoff numbers - Eli is not good anymore but that O-line gotta be the worst in the NFL- brees or Brady wont survive behind that giants O-line -

Brady has never had an outstanding OL. Same LT Manning has now, protected Brady for several seasons. Tom understood his limitations and worked around it. Eli can’t and that is one of many reasons that Eli is just not a good NFL qb anymore.

You can say a lot of negative things about Eli, but he is without a doubt one of the most humble and modest human beings on the planet

He is playing in the most dramatic sports market in the world and has always taken the high road

Brad Johnson won a SB and Marino didn't,if your just going on SB wins it's pointless.

Eli basically a dinosaur in this new NFL. Not good enough to operate with an awful OLine, which isn't his fault, but you can see him back there so jittery when he feels pressure. Since the 2012 SB run:

    7-9
    6-10
    6-10
    11-5
    3-12
    1-5 this year

and in that 11-5 season can be attributed to a defense that just played out of their minds. They never even scored 30 once that season.

I think they made the right move drafting Barkley over a QB. YOu take Darnold, he just sits behind Eli all season. Maybe he's the real deal, but if things don't go well this year then this year is a waste and then you've got Darnold taking over next year. Just sets you back. There's always going to be a highly touted QB you can draft or some OK free agent to get. Barkley is a game changer and was so obvious to see he'd be really good.

Either way, this is definitely going to be Eli's last year as a Giant. THey have to move on, this franchise has become a joke. 4 wins in their last 23 games!
