Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races (WV) Sportsbook

WV to become fifth state to offer legal wagering. Opening set for Saturday at 11am. Joe Theismann to place honorary first bet then big day of CFB to follow. Any of the SBR family planning to be there? Will be run by William Hill so hopefully I don't land on their "unwanteds" list too quickly. Sounds like a pretty nice setup that should rival most of the books outside the big boys. They are hoping to take money off everyone in the high income D.C. suburbs in VA and MD. Having a Grand Opening on the first full CFB Saturday is nuts in my opinion. Hope it goes somewhat smoothly. I'll be making a day of it.

I have been to this place and let me tell you men it’s nice. This used to be a little small hole in the wall with just slots. They got it all now. All table games....crazy numbers of slots. They have a lounge bar area that have big huge TVs, wrap around bar area and the TVs are everywhere. There is another bar area directly beneath the main bar and I would assume they would be adding some more TVs to this area. There food is good and prices aren’t over the top by any means. The Casino is a separate entity which means you have hotels to stay at that are not connected to the casino. A shuttle service runs from each hotel lobby regularly to prevent folks from having to drive. This doesn’t take long at all. WVA is home to some of the best strip clubs around as well. These arent far away if you wanted to venture out. I can’t wait for them to start taking sports bets!!!! Exciting stuff

If you zoom in on these chips you can see Hollywood on them. Cleaned up for $6200 on the roulette wheel back in February...Place is legit

You hit the nail on the head. Highly underrated. They lost a lot of their business to the 3 big flashy MD casinos (MGM near DC and Live!+Horseshoe near Baltimore). Will be interesting if this can help breathe life back into the place. The new book is going to be right next to the sports bar you are talking about. You will have everything under one roof:
    Poker
    Slots
    Tables
    Sportsbook
    Horse Track
and a short drive to some quality strip clubs. Mostly college girls from VA and MD not locals so the quality is surprisingly good.

I also spend a lot of time out there fishing the Shenandoah. One of the best Smallies fisheries in the world.

Under an hour from home and 40 minutes from work.

I live in Virginia. Tried to convince the old lady to buy a house just outside Charles Town when we were getting in a year or so ago. She didn't want to commute that far so we ended up staying in one of the most ridiculously over priced housing markets in the country instead. Women.... At least we will have a decent asset to sell or rent out when we retire. I'm a big fan of that area though and wouldn't mind living there.

Where in VA? I grew up in Nokesville/Manassas area. Housing market is crazy up there along with the brutal traffic too. I’m sure you wouldn’t mind dodging that

Live in Centreville, so right down the road from your old stomping grounds. Work in Loudoun so the commute would have been pretty comparable for me but you can't beat the housing prices out there. I would much prefer waking up to a mountain or river view than a bunch of packed in a**hole neighbors any day also.

I would imagine your traffic isn’t that bad since your going kinda in the opposite direction of it. I’m down in Chesapeake. I knows it’s nuts up there and keeps getting worse

I'm at about 30 minutes in and 45 home for work. Would have been about 40 in 50 home had we done WV. We could have had a huge house with a big yard for 30K less out there. That was the real selling point for me. The woman is a little younger than me so she still wanted to be closer to the action and the shortest commute possible. I wasn't going to win but I had to try. Folks that work downtown are doing 90 minutes each way from C-ville some days now. Manassas can be 2 hours on a bad day. If you haven't been around in a while you'd probably be surprised Rte. 28 is under major construction and will be unrecognizable in 2 years. Expanded lanes, many stop lights removed with overpasses in their place, and toll lanes being added to I-66 From Gainesville all the way into the city. At least they are starting to deal with some of the infrastructure issues in the area but it simply still can't keep up with the population growth.

There’s nothing to check out most of these places are dumps as it’s not Las Vegas

The lines are very very generic.

Fine for a small player not interested in winning

It was a great degenerate day yesterday. Not betting wise but had a blast anyway. Drank for twelve hours straight, Theismann did the grand opening, bet some races had action from the noon game all the way through Hawaii. Got interviewed by the Washington Times and ran into comedian Sinbad who was doing shows there. Pretty epic day. I lost early but hit Liberty ML and ND ML to come out with $100 less than I showed up with. Pretty sure I drank at least $150 in beer so not bad.

Lines were pretty on par with what was available online. MLs were worse for both faves and dogs by about 20 cents, but the spreads were standard. There was no local bias either. They took a huge bath with WVU, Marshall, and MD all covering and winning outright. All told a good place to make some bets and have a damn good time. Better options available if you want to do this to make as much $ as possible though. Need bonuses and reduced juice for that.

It’s deafly good just to do something different, I would think they’re going to have an app that’s where all the money is.
The consensus seems spreads are OK everywhere but everything else is better off shore

Bet the ponies many a time at Charles Town and loved it. Once I argued with some guys in there 80's that black jockeys were no different than black athletes and to prove it bet every race with a black jockey. I won the vast majority of my wagers that day to the amusement of the old schoolers who kept my drinks full. Of course it was a ridiculous system, but every system has its day, lol
