As sports betting legalization continues to sweep across the country, pro bettors are becoming somewhat of celebrities early in the casual fan adoption as the noobs look for entertaining analysis for how to get into the sports betting game.
That’s what made the International Sports Betting Conference so interesting. Hosted by SportsbookReview.com Aug 25-26 in Las Vegas, the second annual event brought together the pros in a group setting to celebrate their “sport” and to offer a slew of analysis about the upcoming football season in one space.
The capper of the weekend was the NFL sports betting preview panel, filled with names that if you don’t know already, you probably will soon if you’re beginning to pay attention to sports betting. Donny Rightside hosted the event, with Drew from @Whale_Capper, Kelly Stewart from @KellyInVegas and the Stephen A. Smith of sports betting talk, Gabriel Morency.
We surveyed this group of NFL odds superstars — along with the pros on hand to watch the panel — to come up with five win totals bets that will surely pay off if you get in now. Contrary to a lot of social media opinion, there is plenty of value in this year’s win totals. Here is a consensus take from IFBC on which teams are the ones to beat.
(Quick aside: You have to feel bad for these network TV preseason broadcasts. The crews from the locally-owned team broadcasts are paid to know the full roster and make the third stringers sound interesting.
Even in Week 3, which is supposed to be the dress rehearsal for the A team, I felt bad listening to Greg Gumbel, Bruce Arians and Trent Green calling the Lions and Buccaneers game that seemingly would never end. Same goes for any of the national broadcasts. Buck and Aikman trying to make a 5-0 Eagles-Browns game sound interesting was fun. But I guess the joke is on us, as that game pulled an insane 4.2 national rating with 6.2 million viewers, winning the night on the networks.)
