Nationals fire sale / need to Fire Davey Martinez

Ntionals lost 2 of 3 this past weekend to the measly Marlins and 3 of 4 the week before to the Cardinals. This team has not taking a series from a team with a winning record since May. I follow this team very closely and it’s a complete dumpster fire. They have now dumped Murphy who cleared waivers and has been picked up by the Cubs and Matt Adams has gone back to thenCardinals. Martinez has mismanaged this team all season long. His in game situational managing was on full disaster mode this past week by continuing to throw guys out there from the bullpen who shouldn’t of been in the game. It started with the Cubs game last Sunday night which they got walked off with a grand slam after Scherzer threw a gem. He made a defense sub brining in Difo at second who had an error. He threw Madson in the 9th who had told them his back was hurt and this dipshit threw him out there anyways. The error two hit batters and then wam bam grand slam walk off....JFC....Then they got walked off the next night in St Louis when they brought Solis in who has no business being in the big leagues for a situational move. They ended up pitching to Matt Carpenter with first base open and he hit a 3 run go ahead bomb and ended up losing in extra innings. With all this talent in DC and a team who was projected to at least get to if not win the World Series to be sitting a game below .500 in late August is just a complete joke. The Nats still have a loaded roster and even without Harper have solid pieces to be a contender but will never win with this bum Martinez. They have quit and it’s depressing for a team like this who has had all this talent to not even be able to win a playoff series all these years.

Dodgers have claimed Harper now and he didn’t clear the waivers......It’s all blowing up...See what the Nationals do now

Surprised their strategy of doing nothing and getting slightly worse at deadline didn't pay dividends

Nationals would be running away with the NL east with Dusty Baker

The team has no onfield leadership and when you don’t have anyone in the clubhouse who can lead the manager has to be that person to lead all this talent. It’s sickening and Martinez has done nothing. I guess you could say Scherzer is probably the closest thing to leadership they have and he plays once every 5 days. It’s a disaster from the top all the way down

They need to ship out that injury prone Stephen Strasburg- if there’s any value left ?

I know Murphy has struggled after his injury but thats a big get for the Cubbies potentially.

This is probably 90% true but Dusty won’t get you over the hump. He’s never won in the playoffs ever. They should of brought in Girrardi. He would of been the perfect fit for what they were lacking

Back end guys blow games and the next day say they were pitching hurt. Herrera and Madson did that. Ridiculous.

Seemed redundant for Cubs - wondering if this means Bryant may not be coming back.

If Kris Bryant comes back to the player he is, the infield is Rizzo-Murphy-Baez-Bryant around the horn. Never know how anyone might play, but on paper is that the best infield in memory?

I agree I guess but that was the entire point of getting someone in with experience who could get over that hump....Martinez wasn’t an upgrade from Dusty that’s for damn sure. Davey Johnson was the best manager that has been in DC and it’s not even close

Stras, Sherzer, Fedde solid 1,2,3...I think Roark sucks.....Outfield with Soto, Eaton and Robles is legit....They got Rendon and Turner on the left side of the infield...Zimmerman at 1B.....need some more pitching but this team isn’t losing a ton. Harper has picked it up since the All-Star break but don’t think this team can win with him in the team and no way do you pay him a kings ransom with the year he has had this year....Need a catcher and now a 2B....I think Kendrick can play there which isn’t horrible

They have scherzer. Stras can’t be counted on for a full season. Father Time catching up with gio. Bullpen is a dumpster fire. Don’t see the pitching outside of scherzer and stras. Can always add someone.

Rendon, Soto, Turner, maybe Robles will be a good nucleus to build around. Unless they resign Harper, or make substantial additions, I don’t see it.

Harper leaving the Nationals is the best thing - He’s a clubhouse cancer - They got enough talent to win when healthy

Team wasn’t that good to begin with this season. Their time passed before the year. OP completely missing the target here.

Honestly I don’t think guys respect Dave Martinez - Nationals definitely got the talent - there not a old team like the Giants

Rizzo has made some dumb moves. He overpaid for Adam Eaton and wouldn’t fix the abortion of a bullpen they had last season. At least he tried this year, but they couldn’t stay healthy.

What a surprise - an unqualified minority who gets a job is a failure - Nationals had a chance to fire Martinez at the break and turn the season, no point in trading Murphy at this point, he's not even under contract after this year, they had zero leverage.

pinella won world series with johnson's talent. Marge got rid of him because he was shacking up with his girlfriend. I really think it is heart in players. Torre sucked every where until he went to new york.

Baseball manager does matter but nothing like coaching in football - Some managers don’t know how 2 use the bullpens properly
