    It appears as if your “role model” status has influence as it relates to your HOF status.

    I think this is the ONLY reason TO wasn’t a 1st ballot guy. If you’re JUST looking at stats, it’s a no brainer.

    I think this will be even more of a factor going forward, regardless of who is voting. It’s a platform in society today, so it’s now deeper than what happens on the field.

    All irrelevant, his NUMBERS made him worthy of first ballot HOF. This is not a case where a guy was banned (Pete Rose) or used PEDs (Mark McGuire), being an asshole should not supersede HOF numbers.

    The HOF has a stated goal

    "Honor the games hereos (TO played a villian role), preserve its history (TO did everything past and present to balk at history and precedent) and promote its values and promote its values (TO was a 'me first' guy, not a role model).

    By the standards set forth by the HOF itself, outside of performance, TO is not a HOFer

    This is the same reason that, despite no rules against it, steroid users will be unlikely to get wide acceptance in MLB HOF.

    Values and traditions are why the journalists get to judge, not uneducated rhubes
