"Hey, now that practice is over let's go explore a cave 2.5 miles deep" said no coach ever until now

I would guess the country does not have high powered equipment

They could just ask another country. Who wouldn't give it to them?

Three days ago, they realized they were accidentally pumping the water back into the caves. Real rocket scientists over there.

Many cave tourist sites are billed as family outings bring the kids lol. How phucking stupid are you to take kids into these things. Most adults probably shouldn't be going in anyways.

Utah has all sorts of cave spots you can take your kids. are people phucking retarded?

The ground swells and contracts. the rocks shift. If you need a little 2 foot crevice to get out you're stupid if you think its just going to stay like that at your convenience.

It sounds like half of the worlds cave rescue experts are there.

It's amazing they found them at all after 11 days in there. I don't think it's being run by dummies or with a lack of equipment.

The people going in to try and save them are true heroes.

I’d ask for a gun to shoot myself. Constant panic attack being stuck in there. Torture. Then you want me to dive out. Yeah, okay. Thanks Coach.

Four expert cave divers from the UK will guide 12 boys and their soccer coach out of the flooded Thai cave they are trapped in, with support from Thai Navy SEALs, authorities said.

The rescue attempt is unlikely to be made today with attempts to free the boys put on hold, despite monsoonal rains resuming.

Authorities said they will wait as long as possible for the soccer team, who have been underground for two weeks, to regain their strength and learn to scuba dive.

Cave rescue specialists have cautioned against the boys diving out, except as a last resort, because of the dangers posed by inexperienced people using diving gear.

Authorities continue to pursue a third option, which is finding a shaft or drilling into the mountain in which the cave is located to find a sort of back door entrance.

However, if heavy rain forecast for northern Thailand hits, authorities may have to switch plans and attempt an urgent extraction despite the risk, Mr Osotthanakorn said.

The British divers were the ones that found them. Not the ones from Thailand.

They've already pumped 35million gallons and it hasn't done much, some spots made couple percent difference and some parts you can t pump so diving only realistic option

Part of the problem was, they were pumping water back into the cave by accident.

Yeah that was dumb but was only couple hrs before experts noticed and I don't think it has effected the diving decision

Being "kids" is not a bad thing in this context.

13-15yo boys from a sporting team, who were unafraid enough of tight dark spaces to walk in there, and have been fed and prepared to do it for a couple of days, should be close to the most likely to survive this of any sort of group.

More likely to handle it than most here at a guess.

I think most or all of them will survive this.

I got the Asian line O5.75 kids make it out at +150. I teased it down to O3.5 to be safe.

I wish.....But some have never even swam before and you're asking them to a dive through small cracks where you a body can barely fit through. This is what someone posted in that video's comment section......

    1. There is NO VISIBILITY. If you've never dived before, imagine doing it blind.
    2. I know as a surfer, panic is the quickest way to die in water. These kids can't swim. They will panic.
    3. Some passages are so narrow, they have to go through by themselves.
    4. If a kid gets stuck in a narrow passage way, they endanger the rescue divers.
    5. This dive might take as long as 90 minutes. This is not an easy dive.
    6. Navy Seals said they wouldn't do this dive voluntarily IF lives weren't at stake. It's that dangerous.
    7. These are 11-16 year old kids. Mistakes are going to happen.

Apparently one option is to restrain them with straps and basically push/pull them through.

It's also not really about swimming. They have a cable to pull themselves through with. The adult divers are not swimming with fins now. Just working along the cable.

You're talking about adult divers who have been doing this for years. Not 12 yr old kids who have never done this and could easily get freaked out. How many adults could do this right off the bat??

It sounds like near the scariest most dangerous thing imaginable. It will be amazing if they do survive. Especially if more water comes and makes it darker and faster flowing.

I just think them being skinny young boys is not really a huge negative here. Put a helmet on and a mask that cant come off on them. Wrap them up like a worm and do exactly what they were doing with those large oxygen cylinders in your video. If they can move 30 of those in, they can move 13 strapped up kids out.

I don't really get how these kids were discovered. Did people get to them or was it some mechanical explorer or something? Amazing they were even found regardless. Sounds like Elon Musk is sending a team from his boring company there now.

2 British divers swam that far into the cave system looking for them. They kept going deeper for over a week not giving up.
