    Because, big picture, for the sport of golf, they need STARS. The PGA Tour is going to go the way of NASCAR once Tiger and Phil retire. Need some personalities to garner new fans.     Koepka made over $2 million for winning this U.S. Open. He can thank Tiger for that. Ratings were down on everything, including the majors before Tiger came back. Ratings go down, sponsorship money goes down, purses go down. I'd expect these U.S. Open weekend ratings to be horrific after Tiger missed the cut. Throw in the unwatchable course play on Sat. and Sundays ratings have to be low.
