i would of voted parents. Because we have had guns in the house since 1959 and no one in the family has pulled this shit. But we were taught at an early age to hunt and the damage that a weapon could do. Nice threat do

I would eliminate the last selection, and go with any of the top three.

I realize there are other factors, I'm just wondering what posters think is the most significant one out of those 4

    - guy tries to blow up a plane with an explosive in his shoe ... we have to take our shoes of now at the airport.
    - 9/11 happens - airport security is dramatically increased
    - people die and kill others drinking and driving - cops set up road blocks etc. people to jail now
    - guys kill students in schools - people blame NRA and do nothing.

Why isn't there security at every school like any sports event, political event, award show, airport etc?

I wouldn't be so quick to do that

I would say one of those four is the main factor in the rather recent increase in school shootings, but only 2 of the choices, 24 hr coverage and widespread violent video game play, are also relatively recent. Gun control laws haven't really changed much and if anything have gotten stricter and mental healthcare has stayed the same or arguably improved.

Let's take God out of our schools and have our kids get more and more into porn and sexting on their phones and then we'll ask God to protect them.

Mental health, social media and video games are just as prevalent if not worse issues in Europe and Asia, why no school shootings there? USA and Middle East only places where ppl are fanatical about religion, but seems to be more mass killings both places? Coincidence?

    Pussification of America.

Back in in the day kids would often get in fist fights at school and the worst that could happen is getting teeth knocked out. Nowadays kids shoot up the fukkin school. Wtf.

Bad parenting and lack of Godly values is certainly a contributing factor these days.. Kids aren't forced to go to church any more...Single parents are busy doing other things like doing drugs..

Most schools are locked down with their own security or police force at least they are in CA.

Because schools are funded locally and that means you and I have to feel the pain financially whereas Federal enforcement is considered spending other people's money and voted on by national leaders far removed from campaigns door to door

Combination of everything...that’s why there haven’t been any solutions since the 90s worth a shit

All starts with weak minded people...the parents, the shooters themselves, and society as a whole

There was an armed guard at the last school, didn't seem to help.

It’s the social media mentality that carries over. And I don’t think there is anyway to stop it, I just pray it ceases.

If none of these psychopaths knew of the prior mass shootings I don’t believe they would be doing these same acts, but obviously it will always be reported. So I put all the blame on the shooter.

Gotta think that parents are somewhat responsible for their underage child being off his rocker for months then premeditately stealing the parent’s weapon to premeditately slaughter innocent lives.

Gotta hold the parents accountable for not parenting and / or not securing their firearms

I heard one tv guy say to have security like they have in federal building and airports. And to allow retired cops or military volunteer to be inside an around the school and have those people be exempt from paying any taxes. Seems like that is a better idea than what's going on now.

not just that but in combination with ... a fence perimeter and have only one entrance/exit with xray machine like the airports.
