    You are ignoring the fact that LA was favored to win the NL before the season started, it would take a monumentally atrocious start for any preseason fave to be better than 25-1 at the same early stage of the season as when this bet was placed. Another consideration is the mediocre division.

    no im not that is my point......any other "solid" team (can we really call LAD solid maybe) 8 games back would be 45-1

    books knew they could have lost 7 of 10 and then would be done. in fact +2500 was really a perfect spot to get some public action on. im sure books knew they have played a lot of baseball the past few years too


    see what happens. D-backs are good and remember even a wildcard berth only means a playoff game. not even into the playoffs unless you win that game. many obstacles even with the recent winning

    NO preseason favorite 8 games out would be 45-1 that early in the season, being a public team has nothing to do with it. And public perception was actually extremely down on the Dodgers at the time, so again I don't think being a public team applied.

    And on a side note that has nothing to do with the point we are debating, I do think the Dodgers ultimately pull away while winning the division.

    They're probably a favorite to win their division. They're a top two talent wise team in the nl, if they get in the dance which they're greatly favored to do it was a great bet that leaves you with a ton of options
