OKC would send him to Detroit for a 5th round pick in the 2030 draft, and OKC would be happy like a fly on shit

    Forcing buy out?

    Where does he go?
If I were the OKC GM and if Melo opts in and refuses to waive his no-trade, I tell the coach to bench him and make him miserable by giving him 0 minutes until he's begging to be traded to Lithuania.

I know he's an arrogant POS but do you REALLY think he'll be that pissed about earning 28 mil sitting on a bench?

Considering his ego (and the fact sitting on the bench gets you no playing time which hurts your brand in terms of endorsements) I would risk that taking the ball out of his hands would drive him to want to go somewhere where he could at least still play ball.

If he gets a buyout does that mean some of the money comes off their books with regards to the cap? If so this is great news. They have FAs they need to re-sign/ sign.
