I really do feel for everyone who knew him, a few years back a friend experienced his brother disappearing from Yosemite in very similar circumstances. That’s what got me into the Missing 411 stuff. The number of people this type of thing happens too year after year is amazing. All I can suggest is to get private trackers and dogs on the scene as soon as possible because sometimes the authorities aren’t interested in out of the box thinking.

my wife has watched enough of the ID channel (Investigation Discovery) to know that a good police force already knows whether it's an accident, foul play or something in between. of course, they never disclose their hand.

That’s the thing, the dept of interior does not have a list of missing people in National Parks at all, forget all the other data. I mean they probably have a list but they refuse to make it public, perhaps because the number is shockingly high? Look into National Park disappearances and I guarantee you’ll be surprised.

If he was attacked by an animal there would be sure signs of it. Clothing scatter, human remains, etc.

When you vanish without a trace it takes away from all possibilities of an animal attack.

Especially if there was such a thorough search completed. They would have found evidence of an animal attack.

From what I've read, it doesn't look like it was a planned disappearance. Not when there is witnesses seeing him hiking and also his planned dinner with his mom.
