Awesome goal no doubt but definitely not his best. The degree if difficult for him is far less than say guys like Wayne Rooney or manzudtic that have done it as well. Manzutic's was from like midfield

I think is one of his best... probably top 3 or 5... but certainly the best goal against the hardest team/goalie/defense? most likely

    Gianluigi Buffon guys

Nice but not his best. His best is still his hat trick goal against Galatasaray.

Portugal not a top squad IMO... maybe 2002 or 2006 but not the last 2-3 cups

Evaluate this team. I think they can make some noise in Russia.

Noise? Sure... they could make a run to quarterfinals or even semis. But these are teams I have ranked OVER them for WC18:

    Brazil
    Germany
    Spain
    Colombia
    France
    Belgium
    England
    Switzerland
    Uruguay

    and yes... even Argentina

Agree on the 1st 6 entries. England is always an outlier; has the stars but can't buy wins in the WC. CR7 just gives Portugal that extra edge.

Same applies with Argentina, has one of the strongest line-ups yet only thing going for them is Messi.

England has their best squad today since 2002 in my opinion... Uruguay not as good like 2014 but undeniable side with Suarez, Cavani and Godin on defense... their midfield is the weakest part

Portugal? I dont think they are especial on defense or midfield... Ronaldo is their true star...

We'll find out soon enuf. World Cup is always good for debate. No one knows for sure.

My thing on Portugal is that beyond CRONALDO...the players are pretty anonymous. But they're solid. Portugal is currently producing a lot of solid young players.

    Ronaldo

Too bad he and Messi never got the chance to face eachother in a World Cup final. Maybe this year ...

    Classic Zlatan

Speaking as a pundit on ESPN Sportscenter in the US, the LA Galaxy star was at his modest best when asked for his take on the strike.“It was a nice goal, but he should try it from 40 metres,” he said.
The Swede was of course referencing his own wondergoal which stunned England back in 2012 and won him the FIFA Puskás Award.

JJ The goal was an amazing athletic feat. He has great ability and scores goals with regularity, but i wouldnt place him in The Top 10 of all time great players. I think it all depends on what one deems to be the criteria for being "The Greatest ".

To use an analogy from the other Football.......

Jim Brown put up some serious #'s in his short career , but its " Sweetness ", Walter Peyton as #1 for me. Longevity , playing for a very bad Chicago Bears team for many years ( OJ will understand that 1 ). The guy who could have beaten all the records and been considered The Champ, was Barry Sanders. The guy was just fed up with playing for a team that was going nowhere, and they were firm on his honoring his contract.

Pele scored 1281 goals in his career. The next highest total is less then half of that number ( Franz " Bimbo " Binder of the 30's ). Garincha , Puskas , Cruyff , Eusebio , Zidane , Messi,Beckenbauer, Bobby Charlton, Platini........

Ronaldo is a great athlete. He does not make the players around him better. To me , the above list all do.

Its just an opinion, and opinions are like aholes. Everybody has one and they are all full of shitt.

His best goals are his set piece shots, the degree of difficulty on some of those are insanely high

Bicycle kicks comes easier for a player of his athleticism

Poland is better than at least half the teams on that list and the Swiss belong nowhere near it.

Hope they are undervalued just like Real Madris has been overvalued in CL this season. With Ronaldo, it's similar to playing 12 on 11. He's that good.

I have no idea how you can argue it's 'easy' for him. Such goals are far and few between, and you are trying to diminish a genius performance on the biggest stage by saying that. I consider myself lucky to be alive every time I see CR7 showing 20% of the brilliance he has shown in a dozen matches this year alone.

    Yeah missed Poland.

As teams... cohesive... Uruguay and Swiss play better than Portugal IMO.

But we will see when the Cup starts... that said... no one gave a cent for Argentina last cup, and they reached the final.

Messi way better... Messi is not an athlete like Ronaldo is and can even perform better...

Messi dont go to ground until he cant literally get support from his legs from all the kickin he gets... Ronaldo a known diver...

Yup. I concur with that. Messi is a far better all around player.
