I hear you Brother. I am holding SPY for the long run. I have 25% of allocated funds especially for this fund. If it drops around 15% give or take then I put another 25% in. if it drops again I buy another 25%. etc.

if this is not a sound strategy for a long term index fund hold, please let me know. would also want to hear from ROY or GREASER or other posters here who i really respect.

my thought - when the market crashed in 1987 and 2000, the best play was probably to buy more and hold it. lower the cost base. that is exactly why i have only dropped in 25% of a special allocated amount just for SPY. in case it drops i buy more, and when the market recovers i make my money back quicker because I lowered my cost.

sounds too simple but i believe it works if one has patience and time. i am lower on patience than i am on time, but the patience is growing more and more all the time.

If you dollar cost average SPY, DRIP the dividends and sell covered calls you'll make a fortune in the long run.

I don't think you understood my post, not at all.

I was talking about individual trades and probability in regards to risk and reward, I have no idea what you are talking about.

This is fine, the market always comes back. Nothing wrong with your stategy.

I'm just implying that, with such a record bull run, I wouldn't be surprised, if a recession hit, that it too was drawn out, keeping the markets from rising for a while.

The extended market recovery from that last crash was no doubt a result of QE coming through, the banks and institutions made out well with that.

The market will always bounce back from these dips short term, and I agree with your long term strategy of buying more on the major dips. I'd say it's sound for the major indices for sure.

I also think it's a good idea start allocating a bit towards some of the beat up Asian indices, at some point, they really have been hit while the US has been rocking.

Market down, I'm up thanks to CQP.

Sold GME a while back and might take more under 13, it's a good wave to profit from, has been all year and nothing has changed during the sell offs.

PFE is another one I sold after a run and noticed it has survived the broad selling off as well; not all pharmas were so lucky.

I just doubled my BAC position today. I'm one of those buyers coming in on that stock.

Thinking about picking up GME again as well.

Both stocks feeling a post dividend drop, but BAC the broader sell off as well.

I am not afraid to dump it on an increase but think BAC is a good long term hold as well.

I'm looking into an angle. Legislation seems to be a big reason some of the weed stocks and the industry as a whole is being held up investment wise.

The way I understand it, the US Farm Bill passed last week, awaiting the Presidents Signature, and in it the consider Hemp to be an agricultural crop. I believe this is a reclassification.

It's hemp, but a lot of CBD is derived from hemp. This could be a good sign for this industry. Not sure who exactly benefits yet, but something I'm looking into.

Great angle KVer. Absolutely the weed stock investors keeping a close eye on legislation and when it appears a go that industry will be unleashed.

It's hemp, but a lot of CBD is derived from hemp. This could be a good sign for this industry. Not sure who exactly benefits yet, but something I'm looking into.

Any particular weed stocks you’d recommend keeping an eye on?

Notice there is investment in in Miracle Gro.

The industry has everyone from pharma to biotech to tobacco and paper.

A lot of potential revenue in all that but I'm listening for whispers from the beverage companies that want to sell mj drinks in a bar.

People won't realize how fukked up they'll get until it's too late...lol.

CBD drinks god be a big deal. A little costly but very effective. It's like a relaxing tea with even more health benefits.

It sure looks like the beverage co's are in first, where the tobacco co's might have seemed to be a natural fit.

TLRY making news today making a deal with Novartis' Sandoz.

It's a Global Medical Cannabis Development program.

We may not have to wait for US legislation as these players are making moves, but we know it would help bring in investment dollars.

This is a blood-bath. Pure shit.

Note that CD rates are currently higher than they've been in a while. CD's enticing $$...so the rebound is coming after 1/1/2019?

2018 will be the first losing year since 2008

    https://www.thebalance.com/stock-mar...y-year-2388543

Much blame goes to fuckin Trump

Asshole is bitching daily about nonsense and border walls, not signing budgets, etc. Rails the market with tons of uncertainty.

His idiotic tariffs have devestated sectors alone
