    Thailand

In Bangkok, Thailand. Anyone been here and have any good recommendations on what to do and where to go besides the cheap foot massages and oil massages with happy endings?

I’m sure you can get more details from google....

The ladyboy phenomenon is very well accepted in Thailand and there is no doubt that they can be strikingly beautiful - you just have to look at the Miss Tiffany beauty competition on national television! By popular demand, this is a list of safe and fun ladyboy bars in Bangkok. We actually found quite a few: five in Nana Plaza, one in Soi Cowboy and a couple in Patpong. Some of them are large and in good condition and some others are a little rough around the edges. Overall, it was a constructive investigation as most of the staff in such places speak pretty good English and welcome fun conversation, which is rarely the case in normal Go Go bars. If you too are curious, know that anyone is welcome and none of the bars rip off guests on the price of drinks

Not too sure about that JJ. My wife is Vietnamese and the majority of her family and their friends despise white people (luckily she’s not one of them). Sure they will take your money, but they will talk badly about you behind your back.

depends what you are after. I spent over a months there.

If you are after good food, cheap accomodations and great snorkeling. Koh Lipe on the Andaman Sea is awesome. Small but totally relaxing and tons of European girls. Coral close to the shoreline and little Island a short swim away some great marine life. I spent a week there and it was so relaxing and beautiful.

Tarutao National Park. On the way to Koh Lipe. Spent a week there also. Amazing hiking and adventure. Rented a tent for $5 or $10 a day (cant remember now) and set it up on the beach. Wow. Tons of monkeys. You can rent a bike and see the entire island. The restaurant serves great Thai dishes and the beer is always cold.

Koh Tao island. Its awesome on the Gulf of Thailand. The food and shoreline are awesome. Rented a scooter for 5 bucks a day. Beers are 2 for a huge bottle. Smoked a little opium. Ate fantastic cheap food. Love this place!

Chiang Mai in the north. I stayed in some great clean safe hostels for $3 a night and they arranged a day trip. They picked us up at the hostel in a nice van. Drove a couple hours to the jungle (stopping along to the way for food), dropped us off with guide who walked us up the mountain and then down again to the elephant ranch. It was awesome. Road the elephants up the mountain for an hour. Then to the river where we scrubbed them down wash them. Beautiful animals. They fed us then we had a campfire where we drank cheap rice liquor. We slept on the side the mountain, outdoors basically but under a roof, in huge beds with mosquito nets. In the morning the fed us breaky and drove us to a waterfall we had to hike to. On the way back, we went white water rafting. Then they drove us back to the hostel. $25 it cost. Amazing.

I loved it all. Wanna go back just thinking about it. Soon I will.

A poster who can answer most questions you have about Thailand is Viejo Dinosaur.

He lived there for many years & still does part time.

Not sure if he posts here but you can probably PM him at SBR's sister site TheRx.

Go to Phuket or Pattaya instead. Bangkok nothing but a dirty, smelly city. You can get anything in Phuket or Pattaya that you can get in Bangkok.

Phuket has some great tailors. Last time I was there I got 2 custom tailored suits for under $100. I also bought 7 custom tailored shirts for $97.

Take an excursion nearby to Phi Phi Koh.

Here's Monkey Island. Frankly I wouldn't get close to wild monkeys. You never know what diseases they might have like rabies.
