Maybe you don't believe in God. That's your right but why would you say "I do not like God"? Either you believe or don't believe.

Irregardless, could you at least agree that Godly principles are things our kids should be taught? It should not matter if you're a Muslim, Christian, Jew, Atheist, etc. We all should agree that we shouldn't kill, we shouldn't steal, lie, etc. We should be teaching common sense (Godly) principles in the classroom. We should teach kids how to handle stress, overcome adversity, ask for help, etc. We can't expect some of these parents to teach it, so I think it should be taught in school.

True.. but maybe if we had a war on guns, it could at least reduce the numbers of guns, especially illegal guns into the hands of these sick fukks. I think if we could track gun sales, movements more, we could at least better gain insight into how guns are getting into nefarious hands. That means hold gun manufacturers responsible.

I heard just yesterday that Remington may file bankruptcy over legal cases. We need to go after these gun companies, just like drug companies. They have to be more responsible.

Simple solution..... In this country, if you can get 3 people in front of a judge to declare someone a danger to themselves because of mental health problems the government can legally put a 3 day hold on someone. A similar but lower threshold should be in place to block people from buying guns. There needs to be a way for a judge to block someone from buying or owning a firearm until they are mentally healthy.

That's a damn good idea... but probably makes too much common sense for them to adopt. Some dumb ass would file an injunction to hold it up for some crazy reason.

Plenty of people knew this guy was trouble. In the future people like him need to be put on temporary banned lists until they meet certain mental health requirements if ever.

FYI, I own a few guns and support responsible ownership. I don't take the idea of banning someone lightly.

No hope, no laws and you are a lost sheep. That's the underlying problem.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to go back in time. Our laws allow people to be decadent. It allows people to believe in themselves more than a higher being. More and more people are becoming atheist that do not believe in God. Our constitution protects them to even put down religion and call those that believe stupid, irrational, etc. We have taken biblical principles out of our schools in an effort to protect the few that are offended by common sense. So what do we expect when a child has no hope and no law to look to? Most of our young kids have no direction and we wonder why are kids so bad?

Our laws of freedom (especially religious) has created this mess. We can't go back. But what we can do is enact common sense laws that everyone must abide by.

The genie is pretty much out of the bottle on the social issues I talked about earlier. The focus should be on taking schools off the list of soft targets that are out there. Security needs to be beefed up like if you were going to a major sporting event.

The question comes as to how do you pay for it. I hear people all over saying that they would be willing to pay more taxes to keep their kids safe. I think we would be better off taking a page from what the bowl games do. Sell naming rights, or advertising, for each individual school, and have that money appropriated to nothing but the school's security. Businesses could very well benefit from the publicity of protecting the kids, and it would be no extra cost to the taxpayer.

So the answer is lets add more laws even though law enforcement can't enforce the laws on the books already (had they investigated him, they could've sought to make him ineligible) and we can't even stop drugs from free flowing into the country.

The February 2016 incident would've been enough to put him on NICS. https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/...orida-shooting

assault rifles are basically a non factor in overall murders. your neighbor's pool is a bigger threat to your child than an assault rifle. politicians and the media just hype up all these minor issues to distract everyone from the real issues.

The NRA isn't even in the top 200 of the largest national donors so how are they too powerful? https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/list_stfed.php?order=A

What they are good at is grassroots and mobilizing get out the vote campaigns to get voters to the polls who will vote for candidates that will support gun rights policies. If you don't like it, then have Everytown or another gun control group do a better job at running counter campaigns to get out gun control voters. The politicians aren't beholden to the NRA, they're beholden to the voters that mobilize to vote them in. It's just that the NRA is good at getting them out.
