Is Derek Jeter making the Yankees great again?

Stanton told Jeter that he wanted to stay with the Marlins and all he wanted was more pitching. Jeter said no and Stanton said yes to the trade.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jeter ditches the Marlins and later finds a job with the Yankees lol.

The Marlins are the only team I can think of that has traded the greatest player of the decade, twice!

    First- Cabrera
    Second- Stanton

The Padres have a history of moves like this going back to Smith, Winfield, McGriff, Carter, Alomar, etc, but none of them are/ were triple crown winners or a hair shy of the 60 homer club.

Stanton isn’t even the best player in the game right now let alone the decade

Marlins have done this for 2 decades. Just usually they trade the star player before they sign the huge contract.

Didn't the guy just win 2/3 of the triple crown and slug like .650 in a pitchers ballpark? Who's better today?

How is Jeter going to make cash now though? They may have 25 people in the stands a night now instead of the usual 500; which 475 of those came just for Stanton...

if you don't have the roster you don't have the roster

you have to rebuild, its the only way to compete these days. soon as your team sniffs a bit north of .500 after a successful run. you prob have too high of payroll and aging stars with huge backloaded contracts. You can't contend that way without a steady influx of cheap cheap team controlled talent.

gotta blow it up and rebuild, 2-5 year window of contention and repeat

    Agreed.

    BUT

How do you trade Ozuna, Gordon and Stanton and somehow not get a single BA Top 100 prospect?

The way things are going Jeter won't have to ditch the Marlins because the fans will run his ass out of there. He is getting booed everywhere he goes now.

Marlins fans were already a race car in the red before the 4th FIRE SALE in 20 years.

Ozuna is an impact bat. How do they not get Flaherty in return?

Trout is comparable if not better. The impact of a Trout trade, in his prime, would incur similar if not greater media coverage and fan reaction.

I'm not going to give you Altuve, however.

Guy is a great infielder and gets a lot of hits, but like many before him (Boggs comes to mind, Biggio, Knoblauch for awhile, Cano) he will never come close to 2/3 of the triple crown or slugging in the upper. 600 bracket.

Wonderful player, fielder and leader but not in same breath of air as Stanton and he will never cash those type of checks because of it.

it was a little more delicate of a situation... Jeter is just the front man for Bruce Sherman. MLB did more to screw Miami than Jeter has...that franchise had no business being sold for anything over 700-800 million.. they overpaid by over 300 millions for the sole purpose of strengthen the value of the other franchises..if the garbage market marlins sell for 1.1 billion, imagine how much cubs, yankees, Giants, Dodgers and sox are worth now...

They had a Cuban Billionaire sitting next to that fraud Jeff Loria at the all star game on purpose because they wanted to drive up the price for Jeter group of investors. Mas wanted to buy the team with good intentions but for the true market value price.. Baseball signed off on this deal knowing they would have no choice but to liquidate its only assets the second the deal went down. They're just as much at fault if not more because its so obvious what went down here..

Yeah Stanton had an unbelievable season, and last year he hit .240. He has never hit above .300 in his career.

You said best player of the decade. Cabrera yeah for sure but I wouldn’t put Stanton in the same category

He's today's Babe Ruth and Miami has traded Babe Ruth twice now, that's all I'm saying. That's got to be very disheartening for fans, especially following the loss of Fernandez last year.

Who cares about Batting Average? It’s not 1977 anymore.

I’m not butt hurt. We Marlins fans are getting used to this.

Just stop thinking that batting average is relevant. Please. Any stat which assigns the same value to a single as it does a HR is old and tired.

All sports radio stations are wondering what the fuk is Jeter doing. All these trades and really nothing to rebuild in return.
