The Yankees are still amazing. Let's not kid ourselves. The shitty lineup they have now....hell the Marlins wish they had those guys on their team.

    1. Yankees 2013 Payroll: 228,835,490 27-16
    2. Pirates 2013 Payroll: 79,555,000 25-18

The Yankees have a higher team average than the Pirates (.252 v .247).

There is one player on the Pirates that could start for the Yankees--- and that is McCutchen.

Even with the Yankees being beat up.

The Yankees still have CC and Mariano.

The Pirates have a starting pitching lineup where AJ Burnett is their ace.

Clint Hurdle can make a case against anyone.

Sam dont compare the NL central to the AL east .. Just stop .. Pitt would be in 4th in the al east

They would struggle with Toronto if anything also .. Cmon bro .. This is like saying Detroit in the al central last year would have been that good if they were in the west or east

Lifelong Yankees fan here and yeah Girardi is very good, just never forget that Girardi could't hold Torre's jock.

Exactly this point. I always thought he was better suited for a mid major team, instead of a team like the Yankees. What we're seeing doesn't surprise me at all. It might tempt the Yankees into lowering that payroll about $50-$75 million, or so.

Yankees still have a solid lineup even with the injuries... it's not like he is pulling a miracle here

Just because the Yankees front office overpay players and give bad contracts doesn't mean they should be contenders.

Yeah Bochy the best in the game, Girardi is in the top few though. Yankees have a pretty good team though... lineup is very capable 1-6, the bottom 1/3 of that order is bad though. That rotation is underrated imo. I dont trust their studs in big games but day to day, they can pitch with a lot of AL teams. Ellsbury and Gardner 1 and 2 is a nightmare for opponents, might be the best leadoff and two hole combo in the game... the middle of the order (Arod, Tex, Beltran) is old but all are having good seasons. Yanks will be there in the end, but even if they make the playoffs, I cant see them winning the AL in any scenario.
