Sorry for another thread about this fight
but as it approaches and I absorb all the predictions
and info.. the more confident I feel that McGregor will
not take no for an answer.
The boxers who say Floyd will win are biased. They are
defending their sport's image more than really looking at
these two men and their abilities to emerge victorious.
Floyd was never really tough. I never respected him as a fighter,
he emerged in his class during a weak era. It's been almost 20
years since Floyd hit someone hard enough to really hurt them.
He is small. He doesn't have the strength to push this fight into
late rounds. Conor will buck up into his face and throw so many
blows against him that defense will be impossible. The move to
8oz gloves gives McGregor the ability to cause pain in Floyd's arms
which will be up all the time from trying to defend. Conor will punch
him mercilessly everywhere. Floyd's arms will go numb.
I see McGregor sinking his head low to get under Floyd's throws
then jutting up and IN - pushing Floyd back, Floyd raises his gloves
to defend his head while Conor pounds his torso. Conor can take
anything Floyd hits him with. I have my doubts whether or not Floyd
will even have the ability to move Conor back at all.
Don't forget, in boxing there is an allowable amount of pushing and nudging
which Conor will use to get inside. Conor's legs are strong. He will use them
to move his striking position around Floyd in ways boxers don't see.
McGregor will charge like a thoroughbred out of the gate. I'm not sure
if he will do that at the very onset of the fight or in the start of a next round
but it will happen. This is a street fight for Conor. He looks at Floyd as the
prey.. like a lion charging an antelope. Floyd will be out of his comfort zone.
He will try to turn this into a boxing match, but Conor will never let that happen.
There will be no dancing around and jabbing. Once McGregor gets inside it
won't take much to send Floyd to the mat. A couple times this happens
then the officials will call the fight for McGregor. It would be sad and scary
to see Floyd unable to regain his feet in the 10-count but that is possible.
The kicker is Conor's southpaw power.. Floyd will have to defend against
both hands becase both can hurt him. When McGregor lands on Floyd's
gut with leverage he will send Floyd curling over. Floyd is going to bleed.
The result will be Floyd making tons of money, his excuses include being
out of his prime - and the unorthodox style of McGregor. Floyd's professional
boxing record of 49-0 remains unscathed.
The strategy of McGregor should be to keep his head down, plow in,
stay low and get under Floyd's arms to work his midsection, sending
him back to set up for the KO.
