Stood up for a teammate that Eck had criticized when he was doing the game

As Eckersley tried to speak, Price cut him off with, “Get the f–k out of here!’’ — as many players cheered.

Eck seems way outspoken nowadays. What happened to him? Can't he just shut up?

Price is a clown. Cant take the slightest of criticism. He will never win anything. Eck not wrong at all. He made a comment about Eduardo Rodriguez having a shitty rehab start, which it was, and it didn't sit well with little Davey boy. Eck is an all time player show some fukkin respect Price you bum. Or maybe not get your shit blown in in a playoff game for once.

Price is your typical millennial. This guy is so soft. Eck needs to know his place though. As a white man he should know that he is not allowed to criticize foreign players or any players that aren't white

That is why Tony La Russa has a hard time understanding why Red Sox pitcher David Price reportedly berated Eckersley in front of his Sox teammates last month during a team charter flight from Boston to Toronto. And La Russa says Price was wrong for airing his emotions in public.

"The No. 1 about that -- whatever David had to say, he should have said privately," La Russa told the Daily News Thursday. "Doing that in front of the team, I hope he regrets it, because that wasn't the right thing to do."

Price's beef reportedly stemmed from Eckersley -- a Hall of Famer and now an NESN baseball analyst -- using the word "Yuck" in reference to Eduardo Rodriguez's stats when they were flashed on the screen after Rodriguez completed a rehab start for Boston's Triple-A affiliate Pawtucket Red Sox.

On the charter flight, in which several WEEI and NESN employees, including Eckersley, flew with the team, Price confronted Eckersley, according to the Boston Globe. The Globe reported that Price shouted, "Here (Eckersley) is -- the greatest pitcher who ever lived! This game is easy for him! Get the (expletive) out of here!" The Globe said Price repeated the latter profane sentence and aimed it at Eckersley later during the flight.

"I think it's very unfortunate. I've heard really good things about David Price. I've heard about David Price," said La Russa Thursday, when he attended Joe Torre's "Safe at Home" charity event at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club. "I know Dennis Eckersley -- first-class pro. I've listened to (Eckersley) quite a bit (as an analyst). He's not a negative guy who makes headlines by beating up people."

Red Sox manager John Farrell and Price reportedly never apologized to Eckersley, but on Thursday, the team's president, Sam Kennedy, told WEEI that Eckersley "was owed an apology after what happened. Let me be clear, he received (an apology) less than 12 hours after the incident happened. He received one from me."

La Russa said he has spoken to Eckersley in the aftermath, and that both Hall of Famers agree that there could have been a less contentious outcome.

"I talked to Eck. We talked about how we would have handled it, and we would have handled it privately," said La Russa. "Eck's moved on. He's the coolest dude around."

David Price will not make his start for the Red Sox tonight after all.

Price has a forearm issue on the same arm that forced him to miss the first two months of the season. The team placed him on the 10-day disabled list, and he will not make his scheduled start tonight.

In his place, Rick Porcello will start. Robby Scott was recalled from Pawtucket to take Price's roster spot.

On Saturday Eduardo Rodriguez will start and on Sunday Drew Pomeranz will start.

In March, Price was diagnosed with a strain of flexor mass muscle in forearm near elbow. He made his first start on May 29.

But Price has also been at the center of a controversy lately after confronting broadcaster Dennis Eckersley last month on a flight to Toronto, several weeks after an angry confrontation with media members in the clubhouse.

Just yesterday, Red Sox president Sam Kennedy said Eckersley deserved an apology after the run-in with Price.

When you are a professional making millions of dollars you need to have thick skin because with any failures you are going to get criticism.

When the Red Sox placed left-hander David Price on the disabled list last week on account of elbow issues, they were confident he’d return this season. Now, “the clock is working against” Price, writes Evan Drellich of CSNNE.com, as he’s dealing with soreness that prevented him from throwing from flat ground Friday. Afterward, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski was unable to provide a timetable for a potential Price return. While Dombrowski noted that Price’s elbow has been “fine” when he has thrown, the executive conceded “the longer that he’s out, the longer it takes to come back, because you have to then build yourself back up.”

    Diamond Dozen.
I'd have a hard time naming 11 relievers better than Eck.

Jays look brilliant for trading this bum.
And Jays haven't looked brilliant since 1991.
