Bitpay's great. They take the middle of the Bid/Ask prices at Bitstamp the second you want to load your card, then charge you a tiny fee -- way less than 1% -- and give you 15 minutes to get the withdrawal started.

At first you'll have to wait for a confirmation before the card's loaded, but after trust is established and they're sure you're not trying to manipulate them based on BTC's price direction, they'll start crediting your card immediately, with zero confirmations.

It's a V I S A debit card, so you can use it everywhere that card's accepted (so basically everywhere) or withdraw cash directly from any ATM. It seems to good to be true, but there's no catch. I've been using Bitpay to pay for everything for over a year.

I have been saying this the whole time. It's only a matter of time before the U.S government heavily regulates it or bans it. Too much illegal activity with it. For fuks sake isis is using it. And I heard today about a major cyber hack in Europe with the hackers demanding Bitcoin as payment. I've said this the whole time the average person does not use Bitcoin it is used mainly for criminal activity. Gambling included. I know I would have nothing to do with Bitcoin if books didn't accept it.

Of course. The I.R.S is already going after coinbase. I guess the government can't ban bitcoin, however they can shut down places that sell it. The other thing I don't get is how everyone said Bitcoin is some anonymous way to transact money. Don't think btc's value has had anything to do with anonymity in a while. It has proven it can't be stopped and folks are realizing it is the future, like it or not. The fact the blockchain ledger is public offers a lot better tracing than govts have on their own currency and it's turning out to be a blessing and not a negative as the price movement is proving.

Going to be hard to ban something that is a "virtual" currency. Reason why US Govt sort of stopped citizens from offshore gaming years ago... was the US Banks. They can regulate what's in their homeland... when it comes to their own legal currency. Can't see how they can ban a worldwide currency.

so once you get a bitpay card, how does your payout from the books get deposited to the card? Does it travel by wallet then to the debit card? Do you lose a certain amount because of the bit coin currency exchange?
for example it says $9.95 to get a bitpay card, and I ended up paying $13 from the wallet what gives? I'm just confused.
Bottomline, I just want to know how does the books pay out go to the bitpay card ?
And do you lose money in the process even tho there is no fees for the pay out.

First of all don't ever withdraw straight from the book to your card. You could get banned from bitpay because of gambling activity. Cash out from the book to block chain.info or some other middle man wallet then to bitpay card. Once you transfer to the bitpay address for your card your funds are converted to u.s dollars and it's basically just like any other debit card. It's really pretty simple and much faster than checks or wires.

I realize they can't ban it but what they can do is shut down all the places that sell it to Americans making it extremely difficult to obtain Bitcoin. The IRS is already fuking with coinbase. The same thing happened to neteller the feds made it illegal for u.s citizens to use it but it still existed in foreign countries. I don't know I hope I'm wrong and Bitcoin becomes huge but I'm a little nervous.
