    Gilbert is an emotional, quick draw, fly by the seat of your pants type of guy. Hell, he's still paying Mike Brown (who he fired twice), David Blatt and Byron Scott along with Ty Lue. Who ever heard of an owner paying 4 coaches at one time? He's erratic... remember the letter to Lebron. This guy is narcissist but at least he puts his money where his mouth is. The guy has paid out a shit load of money to a lot of people as he is insistent on winning.

    Great GM pfft... what did he do besides sign James?

    Griff is just another one of James' guys. Makes sense to cut ties with him when he's asking for a multi-year deal. Once James goes you can get rid of all the crap that comes with him, that's how it goes.

    The Cleveland Cavaliers have offered former NBA veteran Chauncey Billups a five-year deal to take over their front office, but he has yet to accept, according to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic.

    If he accepts the reported offer, it will be the first job of Billups’ career in an executive role in the league. He retired from playing as recently as the 2013-14 season, appearing in 19 games with the Detroit Pistons, who have since gone on to retire his No. 1 jersey. He appeared this past season with ESPN as an analyst.

    Cleveland finds itself at a crossroads of having to continue to attempt to compete with the Golden State Warriors and the rest of the NBA, while making use of their remaining assets. Looming over the team is the impending free agency of LeBron James, which could see him become a free agent next summer. James was a known supporter of Griffin as the GM.

    Chauncey Billups, who was reportedly offered the top position in the Cavaliers’ front office, has withdrawn from consideration, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

    Billups met with Gilbert at least twice to discuss the Cavs’ position, but didn’t confer at all with LeBron James or LeBron’s agent Rich Paul, writes Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com. According to Vardon, Cleveland’s offer was believed to be in the range of $2-3MM annually, and Billups was seeking more.

    With Phil Jackson no longer in the picture, the New York Knicks have been navigating free agency with general manager Steve Mills calling the shots. Saturday night it was reported by ESPN.com that the Knicks may be edging closer to hiring a new general manager, with Mills meeting with former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin.

    Per the report the two have met on multiple occasions, including a dinner Friday night, but there have not been any contract negotiations to this point. Mills is expected to move into the team president role vacated by Jackson.

    Former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin has pulled his name out of the New York Knicks' front office search, a source told The Undefeated's Marc Spears.

    Griffin turned away from the opportunity because he and the Knicks couldn't agree on a role, a source said. Griffin has been in New York City since last Friday's meeting with the Knicks, in the wake of Phil Jackson's departure as president of basketball operations.

    Griffin is expected to do television basketball analysis next season and has no other possible NBA job opportunities at the moment.
