Yea just odd the memo they have is dated last month and they are just now posting the announcement and saying some goes into effect now and rest is transitioning. I just moved last bit of active items into wallets and no more trading on there for me until it all gets cleared. I'm up a nice chunk for the month so happy to just store and ignore for awhile. This is how it goes in crypto land.

    More on NEO
However, no one could predict that Ethereum itself would spawn the single cryptocurrency boom, or that its strongest competitor–NEO–would come from China. (Related: China's Confusing Relationship With Bitcoin)(Check out our new Bitcoin Page for real-time price quotes and news)

    What is NEO?

Formerly known as Antshares, NEO is a recent iteration on Ethereum’s smart contracts. NEO uses a unique blockchain algorithm that improves upon Ethereum’s model. While the basics still apply, it also supports decentralized commerce, identification and digitization of several assets. NEO also closes loopholes that have caused some Ether contracts to be vulnerable to hackers.

On ETH, it's got 3 things going for it:

    1. A very cool name.

    2. Founder Vitaly Buterin, who's so cool that he -- a billionaire -- once responded to me -- a nobody -- at bitcointalk with a post opening, "That's a good point."

    3. ICO's. Since every ICO happens in ETH, everybody assumes it must have a MILLION functioning applications. Except, it doesn't, at least not yet.

Not that I know of but it wouldn't surprise me. Ant Pool sure did play a lot of games with BU/SegWit.

My rigs mine ETH and Zcash mostly.
NEO and OMG have had monster weeks. I just can't bring myself to invest after the crypto has already skyrocketed.

I'm with ya, there. I don't like buying anything at ATH's.

So, how profitable is mining? The technical side of crypto has always been my weakest.

I trade Iota on Bitfinex. I don't know any other exchange that supports. It's surprising since IOTA has huge potential and it's in the top 10 in market cap.
MPS, mining is awesome! And much simpler than you think. How much a mining rig costs depends greatly on which graphics cards you buy. A typical rig might cost $2,000 and that rig would probably produce about $10 a day. So they pay themselves off in about 7 months all things included. It's been a good investment so far.

At the moment yes but ShapeShift says they have it on their discovery list so a potential there. Also others have said they are working closely to get it on another exchange soon.

really liking ARK , has some long term positive qualities imo... is under $2 now and i see potential for hitting $5 short term was already at $3 today, and i think it could reach $15 in the future imo

also if you hold your ARK in the wallet and do a delegate vote you earn ARK gradually by just letting it sit in your wallet

IOTA is now #5 on the Crypto Market Cap list. It's above Litecoin by 600 Million. And yet it's only traded on Bitfinex right now. Imagine what might happen when the other exchanges start supporting it.

I found another exchange that trades IOTA, but I know nothing about it: https://www.coinspot.com.au/

Anybody ever used these Coinspot guys? They feel new. The difference between their buy and sell prices seems pretty fair, but I can't tell if it's an actual live market (if so, it doesn't seem to have a live order book page?) or if it's OTC or what.

Good list. I'm, in order (I think):

    BTC

    XMR

    BCC (currently selling)

    XRP (currently buying)

    ZCASH

    IOTA

    DASH

And bits and bobs of a few others, including some worthless shares of an ICO I got hoodwinked into buying.

NEO's at the top of my due diligence list, but alas, the day job ate this week up.

I don't know much about them but think the Australian financial regulatory system is very good and they would not have a license to operate if they didn't have backing and respectable management.

independentreserve.com is another Aussie exchange that US users can use with wires I think is a good option too.

Be aware that KYC might be on the high side though.

On IOTA how much do you see getting out of it? I don't think the thing is built to be another Bitcoin that shoots into the 1000 and above level ever but do you see it going to maybe 9 when they get the thing all ready to go? Still in design for the most part with what I've read. Still a great profit of course.

I think IOTA's got amazing upside. In June I said I thought when the non crypto investing community discovered it, it could go "parabolic." They haven't yet, and I still think that. Here, if interested: https://www.sportsbookreview.com/for...ts-crypto.html

Like Ethereum, IOTA's an entirely new, complete alternative to the blockchain, so also like ETH, developers can put together their own projects using IOTA's exchange (think Gnosis and Golem), except with the advantage over ETH and the blockchain of having every transaction permanently free.

I guess what I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised to some day (soon? who knows) see IOTA's market cap about what Ethereum's is now (about $27 billion), which equals almost exactly your $9 per coin price.

Heh, besides, IOTA's got kickass buzzwords: "Internet of Things," "B2B," "The Tangle"; plus, a slick website. Those things count, even if its wallet is a POS.

PS: You're totally right in your impression that IOTA was rushed to market before it was ready. There was so much positive buzz about it that the devs went with the "strike while the iron's hot, even if we're not quite ready for prime time" approach, but I think they were disappointed by the market's valuation.

Bitcoin fees have priced it right out of the micropayments market. Has to be an opening there for someone to jump into.

I can see the tangle being brought on by plenty of companies to use as smart transactions or whatever it will be called with m2m in a few years. But that is the tech and not necessarily the coins so that is why I was asking your opinion on the market aspect.....since they are sold as a miota and not a single iota fir it to go into the huge range other coins are it would give them a cap in the trillions and that just seemed insane. I don't have much of a crypto knowledge base yet just learning it all now on the side but I still go off of the numbers so good to know we are on the same page of around ten bucks per. Good luck on them!

Totally. BTC fees are up 1,200% in a year.

BUT, on or around the 24th, SegWit activates, which BitCoin Core supporters have been telling/yelling/scolding BU supporters about for a year and a half, assuring us it can fix the scaling problem all by itself.

I hope they're right. I guess we'll see. One thing's for sure: SegWit's (at least partial) success is already priced into BTC's $4100 valuation, so I'm guessing the downside price risk of SegWit underperforming is greater than the upside price potential of SegWit kicking a$$ and greatly reducing wait times and fees.

Hey, don't sell yourself short! If you're already looking into alts as obscure as IOTA, which trades on a grand total of 1 major exchange, you definitely DO have a pretty solid crypto knowledge base.

Sort of like sports betting....scan a broad range then keep tailoring it down and then dig into the specifics. I like what I see from them so far.

    Opti/MPS:

Good info in here. Keep it coming.

How quickly is the Merchant list growing? I think this # has to be going up at a constant rate for BtC to work.

FWIW, I've used it on occasion. Places like Overstock.com and Amazon.com will take it. It's nice, but it has become more available.
