I quit after starting @ 18 in 1969. I was compulsive for better then 15 years. Memories still haunt me from back then till this day on what I did to get gambling money. Stealing from wife and dad was my bankroll.

2004 I discovered online poker after being clean for 20 years. Since then I have won thousands sometimes in big amounts. Won 10 day trip to South Africa with everything paid including $500 per night room and all food & drinks that I wanted.

But I don't gamble I only bet. I don't deposit ever. Only fools deposit! Only those that are not good enough or smart enough do so.

Patience I suggest as it takes 10 years to become master at anything in life. SBR is a great place to be while learning. They are even paying me to do so. They gave me trip to Vegas and buy me many great dinners.

My goal is huge here. If I can make it here then I can make It anywhere. But not going elsewhere till I'm convince that I am good enough to do so and then I will do so with SBR funds. Excellent at poker but too old for it anymore turning to Basketball parlays last 3 years.

There's no limit here but go at your pace that you are capable of. Most basketball days I can hit 10K cash here and will soon that's likely years away hoping only 2 or 3.

Bet all that you want but never gamble. Be patient and learn. Specialize in one or two areas and enjoy the other days.

Never deposit and you will never be gambling. Think in probabilities not possibilities.

Im an addict and I will never stop gambling, the key is to start WINNING. The only reason people want to quit is because they lose money. So either find edges and become a niche bettor and beat the books or just start betting 1 dollar per game.

Quitting this is hard, you probably in for life

GA is for junkies.. Pick up the phone and make that call, find and join... Very simple...

Gambling is all about discipline.. If you have no discipline and are a full on action junkie then you need to stop.. If you are going into debt to gamble, get depressed when you lose and it changes your moods constantly then you need to stop..

Gambling is like alcohol and there is a fine line between a casual and social drinker and full blown alcoholic.. Same with Sports Gambling..

I have a friend that was seriously addicted to gambling, ruined his life, ended up broke, in debt and he ended up in GA in the end. Funny thing is he wasn't a bad gambler and probably picked more winners then losers, only problem is he couldn't put on the brakes..

GA changed his life and he met alot of friends in the process. Found Jesus too. He's been clean for 20 years now, is a multi millionaire, has a huge cleaning business, hot wife, 4 kids, big house in Malibu, California...

    Gambling is not for everyone..

You never permanently quit, you do it one day, hour, minute, at a time.

You can look into a treatment program but really you should just go to one GA meeting and see if those are your people. If they are, maybe ask them how they quit.

I never "quit" fully, but I stopped from Super Bowl weekend until a few weeks ago (with the exception of UFC events). The key is to get away from sports as a whole and replace it with another hobby (or new addiction). I started working out more and hiking as a replacement. Good luck to you. Take a break for a few days if you can...

A long time ago I realized I just didn't need the stress of worrying if a decent chuck of money was going to win or lose depending on people who had nothing at stake — some 19-year-old kid perhaps making a meaningless basket in garbage time, a golfer in the middle of the pack who was going to shoot 74 or 76. It's hard to be regularly successful. The one big difference is that I no longer sit down and watch games I'm not interested in; I just don't care who wins and loses and by hoe much. Life is much better.

Gambling addicts don't adhere to Kelly. That's like telling an alcoholic to only drink a half a beer so they don't throw up in the morning.

Its like anything else in life, if you want to stop doing something then don't put yourself in places that make you want to continue. If you are an alcoholic and want to stop drinking then you probably don't want to hang out in bars. Likewise, stop coming here and stop going to sites that are about gambling. I got so deep into gambling back in 09, it was affecting my life because I was capping around the clock and it was all I thought about and talked about. So I stopped coming to SBR and actually stopped even watching sports on TV for a year. After a few months I didn't even think about it but again you can't expect to succeed if you don't change how you live each day. I came back after a year because I learned to live without it and hence it is fun again. Start controlling the way you live or it will control you.
