Nash - all things 2017 MLB

    Sunday 4/2

    Bumgarner v. Greinke
SF on the road in Arizona
    Bumgarner -130 total 8

Both opposing teams have not hit the opposing pitcher very well in the past in the past, one (Greinke) has a Cy Young Award, the other (Bumgarner) would have one or two if it was not for that Kershaw fella, I don't care how good a hitters park Chase is (2nd in the majors) 8 is a big number.
Can't see nine runs in this contest (if it's 4-4 after eight innings I guess you are hosed) but under eight is the way to go here.

There is no edge on the side, I'm leaning Snakes here, but that's because I like home dogs, and Goldy is a notorious LH pitcher killer.

There's no edge in Yankees at Rays.
Rays can't touch Tanaka, and Archer's stuff is so filthy it should be illegal, not to mention half of Yanks line up are raw kids, which is why the total is 6.5

(No I am not drinking the Sanchez kool ade just yet, show me more that a half a season please, same applies to Bird also)

Game is a pick 'em - passing, even though I like home dogs, and I consider a home team at pick 'em a home dog.

Then we have the Cards at home against the Cubs.
I'm already sick of the Cubs.
    Lester goes against Carlos Martinez.

This is the year where Carlos Martinez breaks through, however Cards +110 is not enough value for me to back the Cards against Lester.

Under is 7.5, there's your bet for this game.

Skinny three game card Sunday, tight lines, I really don't like betting unders, but it looks like under is the way to go. I'll save the bankroll for another day.

    Like Monday.

Dude, the season is 162 games a year, that's a tad over 6 months, real life happens in the course of six months, like vactions, like shit happens at work and you can't post for a few days, I'm not going to be here 2 hours a day, every day, for six consecutive months, I have a real life too, if you have a real life, and I'm guessing you do, you can relate.

Remember in 2014, I was killing it, I was in the middle of a very nice heater, and shit happened and I wasn't around for like 2 weeks, I had pm's backed up with "Nash, where the hell are you"?

You do remember when real life happened to me and I had to bail in the first week of July when I was on a cooler.
Thing is corportate year end is June 30, and I will never be around at the very end of June and the beginning of July, those two weeks I'm slammed at work, with prettyu much paperwork up tp the eyeballs.

What you have my friend is short term memory, like most of us Americans, me included, we all suffer from this.

OK, let's look at today's games.
No play Sunday, those were just opinions.

Still have no play on record, still 0-0
Remember, if you don't like any of my plays I post you can always fade.
No one is putting a gun to your head, and I will bail if people throw insults or 'pile on'
I don't get paid for this, I get no compensation, and the free time I spend here I can easily devote that time to something else.
You don't like what I post, that's fine, tell, tell me where I am wrong, I am not know it all, but I'm freaking good.

    Look don't touch games.

    Kershaw (LAD) - Chacin (SDP)
    LAD -365 at home.
Do I really have to tell you why?
Because any one who lays -365 on a singular baseball game in April needs to find a new hobby.
    Like needlepoint.

We don't bet chalk over -140 here, and -140 is rare.
You want chalky chalk games, go see Benjamin Lee Ekstein, yu ain['t finding -200 picks here.
You might find -200 games runline down to -110 here, but not -200.

    Strasburg (Nats) - Volquez (Mia)
    Natonals -212 at home.

Nats should get it done, but I'm not laying -212 to find out.
    Why?
Because we don't lay -212 in this thread, that's wjy!

Game that could go either way

    Rox vs. Brews
    pass

    Phils vs. Reds
    pass
(even though I think Phils are going to open some peoples eyes this year, I just don't like Hellickson.
I'd be on thm if I had Nola or Eickoff of this spot, not Hellickson)
    Pass

Pitt (Cole) - Red Sox (Porcello)
    Boston - 162 at home.

Real tempted to snatch Cole at +152, not sure if the arm is 100 pecent.
Want to - but will pass.

Two afternoon underdog plays worth considering.
And the one I am playing.

White Sox (Quintana) - Tigers (Verlander)

    White Sox home +103

I'm expecting a regression out of Verlander this season.
There's a ton of miles on that arm is the reason why.
Quintana is a real live arm.

Reasons why this pick could go south.
The bottom half of the White Sox line up is softer than Grandma Plopwell's yogurt (and that's soft)
Eaton going to the Nats and replacing that with Anderson on top I'm fine with.
    Melke batting second is OK
Abreu and Frazier can mash in the middle.
Garcia can rake, and is a very under rated bat.

    Here's the soft part.
Cody Ashe, Narvasz, Soto, Salandino, and Jacob May.
    Geovany Soto?
    Really? Really?
He's like a 100 years old, he used to be able to stroke in 2008, too bad it's 2017.

Another thing about this game is the Tigers can hit still.

Braves +171 (Teheran) at Mets (Syndegaard)
I hate the nikname Thor, anbody referring to Noah as "Thor" in this thread will be banished to Dante's third ring of hell.
It's a stupid nickname, as stupid as The Dark Knight.

    Why Atlanta?
I love Tehran's arm and arsenal, when on as difficult pitcher as any in the league.
Not quite Syndegaard's level, but damn near close.
Also, I don't think the Mets line up is all that.
Granderson is old, Duda is streaky, hate Reyes at lead off, Jay Bruce is a failure as a met, As. Cabrera doesn't scare me, neither does Neil Walker, the only one who does is Cespedes.

Mets outfield is putrid on defense, can turn a flyball out into a double at any time, hell Cespedes once kicked a World Seeries ball into a home run once not too long ago.
And I can see Addison Reed blowing a ninth inning close game too.

    I mentioned I love Teheran's arm.
Lead off hitter Inciarte will have a coming out party this year, I am buying into the Swanson kool-ade at SS (don't make me look stupid Darby) Freeman and Kemp can still hit, and hard, and moving the 12 million dollar singles hitter Markakis down to the six hole is where he should be hitting from.
Braves line up with Swanson is improved.

Gimme the Braves at a very juicy +171.
1* soft play, hey, there's 161 games left.

    BRAVES +171 1*

Welcome back Nash, new year of baseball and also love your insight. What are your thoughts today on best team total for the day. I was looking at Nats team total over 4. I do see braves team total is at 2.5, are you expecting Braves to score at least 3 or will it be 1-0 game? What about Phillies/Reds over under at 8.5?

I think, but what do I know Phils game goes over 8.5, but if you like the under don't let me talk you down from it. (Reds field plays big for hitters) King Felix is no longer elite, more like so-so.

Night game, one I'll probably play over in the Mariner at Astro game.

Yea I like Red Phils to go over, Phillies have a under rated hitting squad and Reds can hit as well. I really like Jose Peraza and Duvall. I want to do something in the Red Sox game, but afraid that they might lose. Not sure how dominant Porcello can be today. I think Red Sox can score at least 4 runs.

Haha, this thread is going to be AWESOME. Nash's insight and eloquent writing style... VIP's like Opie dropping in to throw some shade... Random trolls coming in after one loss to complain and then get piled on... Here we go, 2017!

Only thing, Nasher, it's Dansby Swanson, not Darby. You won't make that mistake again after he wins Rookie of the Year. (He's on my fantasy squad, lol.) Also, may confuse some that you put Tigers/White Sox in bold right after you said I have one play. I know you meant the one play was the later one with Bravos.

Anyway, that was a tremendous post above, and I love how you're one of the 1% on here who includes detailed insight!!!! I, myself, don't have the patience. Love ya, man. BOL this year!!!!!

So, Teheran matches Syndegaard pitch for pitch (like I expected) but the supposed new and improved Braves bullpen, looked like the same old Braves bullpen, and shit the bed for me.

    Oh well................

Mariners / Astros over 8.5 runs tonight.
That's all I got for today.

Boy those two selections of mine yesterday were solid gold, huh?
No big deal, that;s why we look for dogs and pick 'em games, chalk will bury you (so will
dogs if you don't get a few right, kidding)

The chalky chalk did cash yesterday, Nationals, Kershaw (LAD), .... trust me on this, heavy chalk will crush you long term, which is why I seek out dogs.

One dog sticks out, that's Texas +139, however, Indians smack LH pitching (2nd last season in AL with .268 BA) added the beast (Encarnacion) who hit 9 out against LH pitching last season, I just can't

I just walked in, I see Quintana is getting lit up, there's a reason no other team wants to give him big money, I see Castellanos went deep, he's one of a few players I think will have a big year, along with Shoemaker (who goes tonight) keep an eye on him before betting, but he's healthy and looked good all spring.

    Maeda (LA Dodgers) is another.
    He goes tonight too.

Anyway, like I mentioned both my picks yesterday were miserable, this looks like the best play tonight.

    Dodgers / Padres under 7.5
    1*

Maeda is legit, and I don't think LA can light up the scoreboard against this lefty tonight, they sure as hell gave Kershaw a ton of runs yesterday, tonight feeling here is LA bats come back down to earth.

Got real life things to do, be back tomorrow.

Me too bud. Dry January, followed by a very wet February, quickly followed up by a mostly dry March to try to make up for it.

Down from 230 at Christmas to 218 or so now. Goal is 200 by summer....when I can hit the bottle again.
