Made a couple of MLB future bets...

Need this on the record just in case a miracle happens. I learned this maneuver from Lakerboy. He's always been a bit of a mentor to me.

Play #1: Arizona Diamondbacks to win the World Series: (+12000). I really like their lineup. I think they've got three potential stud starters, but their bullpen probably sucks. El Niņo, check in and tell me how much you love this play.

Play #2: Los Angeles Angels to win the World Series: (+7500). I actually like this play less than the Diamondbacks. It's more of a homer play, something to keep me interested. When you've got the best player in baseball, you've always got a shot. They'll probably finish fourth in the division, but they're having a good spring, so you never know.

That's it for now. Might add another play or two later.

Pretty much. I could understand throwing some $ at a team like Houston, but ARZ and LAA are 120/1 and 75/1 respectively for a very good reason- They ain't winning the World Series!!

I guess it will give you some entertainment for about two months before both are out of the running.

Angels maybe that division looks winnable...... Texas maybe due a slide, Seattle always chokes, Houston might be saying they were aiming for next year anyway and atleast they'll beat the A's.

    Angels have no shot.

Diamondbacks could backdoor into the wildcard if

    Greinke rebounds
Lamb, Walker, & Ray take a step forward
    Pollock is healthy
    Find bullpen help.

    A lot of ifs but it's +12,000...

Diamondbacks got rid of the idiots in the front office over the off season. They don't really have much in the minor league system thanks to some shitty trades. They're putting more of an emphasis on defense going forward. I don't think it's completely crazy that they have a good team if they stay healthy

I'm a big fan of both Matt Shoemaker and Garrett Richards, if the Angels can get 2014 Richards and Shoe in 2017 the Halo's could make some noise, remember it was just a few years ago those two had a combined record of 29 and 8.

I was just reading where Richards was sharp as a tack yesterday and his heater is hitting 97 MPH.
Love his mentality, a pro's pro. Plus I'm hearing his knee is 100 percent (or close to it)

I won the moonshot at DraftKings in 2014, one of my two starters that night was Shoemaker (ask me what I think of him

    http://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...01408210.shtml
Had Lucroy that night too he had like 24 RBI's that night also.
But I digress, which Shoemaker you getting this year? 16 game winner of 2014 or 13 game loser of last season?
Remember, he's never pitched more than 160 innings in any particular season.
Which is why they got Rickie Nolasco, who I don't love but he's an innings eater. And they're important those innings eaters.
Looks like Tyler Skaggs gets a rotations spot, Angels go as far Richards and Shoemaker take them.

Closer Street is going to go on the DL which means Bedrock will close for now, and I'm going to go off and cry now because I remember watching his old man close out Phillie games when I was a kid.

Pujols crushed one tghe other day which was nice to see and it helps when you have thew greatest player since Mickey Mantle in the outfield.

I like the SS Simmons they got from Atlanta (Braves love that Swanson kid) Cron has raw power, I personally think M's are the best in that division, but you can make a case for the Angels. (I just did)

Regarding the Snakes, yeah, that line up is sneaky.
Goldy is an elite 1B with speed to boot, Peralta is one of those outfielders that gives you a little bit of everything, can swipe a bag, make the play on defense, good avg (.290) good OBA (.340+) He did hit 17 HR's two years ago, but the guy I love (besides Goldy) is Pollock.
AJ got hurt last year in 2015 he was a poor mans Mike Trout, played every game stole 39 bases, hit 39 doubles, 20 homers, gold glove caliber OF, hit .315, OBA of almost .370, scored 111 runs, you get Pollock and Goldy gelling together that's a force and expect Jake Lamb to have his coming out party this season too.

D-Backs made a nice behind the scenes utility pick up in Descalco too.

Rotation with Greinke on top ain't too shabby with Walker backing him up, then Robby Ray, Shelby (take him or leave him) Miller and Patrick Corbin and you got yourself a legit WC contender.

Here's the problem, fat 100 year old Fernando Rodney closes and it gets worse from there.

Best of luck, I'll have my thread up and running within a week.

    Peace Giant.

I was looking at the same two teams. I really like Zona, highly touted last year (I think they were like 30/1 to win it all) but disappointed. Angels are a good team in a not very tough division, door is open. I think they have a good lineup but not crazy about their rotation, but we may be surprised. Scioscia has been around.
I like to pick a team or two from each conference and play them to win WS/Penant/Div myself.

For some perspective, the Angels, with Vegas knowing they have a Top 3 player, are 9/1 to win the AL West. The Diamonbacks are 16/1 in the NL West.

So we can already throw out the possibility of them winning their own divisions. IF they make the postseason, they'll be in a one-game playoff, so you put yourself at risk EVEN if they make the postseason by needing them to win an elimination game.

I know that every once in a blue moon, or every 15 years, something like this has to hit, usually on a team that's totally under the radar and looks like crap on paper such as the Padres, but this bet is ill-informed and foolish to say the least.

With these odds it just has to win once every about 50 years though. Is it really that far fetched?

I think people lose site of the fact that to begin with favorites are inflated or their odds shortened because the books are anticipating more money being bet on those sides. There is probably NO value on betting favs to win their respective divisions and WS. I think the way to go is betting long shots who we think are overlooked or think the odds should be shorter. You make the playoffs and the price of your ticket increases emensly. And there will be opportunities to hedge your bet.

All right then I dare you to go against the Cubs winning the NL Central at -500 with an O/U win total of like 97 games. Go ahead, throw some $$ on the Pirates or something if you're so sure.

Diamondbacks are easily in playoff contention.

Angels are only 1.5 games out of the second wildcard spot.

I couldn't have asked for two better teams at these odds. I thought about adding a third team, but really don't see anything all that valuable. Dodgers and Astros look like they're on a collision course, but you never now in baseball.
