Nebraska isn't very good. Not sure why the line dropped so much. I'd want at least 7 points with Nebraska here.

Clearly, you aren't very sharp, so I'll explain it in a different way. I'll give you a metaphor...

We both walk out of the grocery store and see a small girl scout with a sign "FREE COOKIES" with a jar on the table where she put "donations accepted." I proceed to the table where I grab a typical $6 box of cookies, drop $20-$30 bucks in the can and say, "creative marketing, keep up the good work." You, on the other hand, solely focus on the "FREE" portion, ignoring the fact those cookies are not free and someone had to pay them. So, you go over to the table, grab a box of cookies and quickly scurry back to your car elated that a grown ass broke dik man got a "FREE" box of cookies from an 8 year old girl.

I'm sure you are now lost, but you log-in every day to collect points, read posts, and prob visit a few sub-forums. I see you also send points to the casino. Do you think that it doesn't cost SBR to maintain everything? Aside from the fact you actually get your money back via other opportunities, its helps SBR out by having more PRO memberships so they can in turn use that as leverage in negotiations.

Moral of the story, either help SBR out and go pro or STFU because nobody cares what you have to say.

Ok....I don't want to get into some big argument here....but the above is not a fair statement.

SBR is NOT Wikipedia. SBR does not run this site for charity, they run this site as a business. Every single person that visits the site and that posts to the site gives SBR to ability to charge it's sponsors more for advertising. If the only traffic that SBR had was its' 'Pro' delegation, they would be in trouble, as a ton of traffic comes from non-pros.

ALSO, when you donate to SBR, I believe that actually goes to charity, not SBR itself.

Nothing against pros here....I was one myself and I will likely be one again....but being a pro, over a non-pro....really doesn't earn you anything and it certainly doesn't tell the world that you have more (or less) class or wealth.

If a poster is a douchebag, they are a douchebag. If a poster is all class, the are all class. It is what it is.

I would say being pro is a combination of wanting to reap the benefits of SBR (contests, points ect.) willing to give 100 dollars to charity, and committing to using the SBR website. In some cases non pros might either have so much money that they don't have time to tiddle with points and such. But on the other hand they might be high school or college kids who don't want their parents knowing they are on a gambling website or a husband with a wife that does not want them on the gambling website. Either way most posters are cool guys because they like sports gambling.

No need to have a big argument. So long as someone, like yourself, comes across as intelligent and respectful, its not hard to have an actual discussion and see each others points.

I'll discuss the SBR factor below, but excluding it, there really is not any reason not go be a pro. They are basically paying you to donate to charity, which you can get a tax deduction, then then repay you via points to use on gift-cards and/or pizza. Going pro is without a doubt a +EV decision, so give me one reason not to be a pro?

Basically non-pros are saying I don't care and too cheap to donate $100 now, even thought I will get the money back in a few months.

If you truly cannot afford $100, well, then we probably need to have a discussion as to why you are on a gambling board gambling.

No offense to Otters, but that guy bets $3-$5 per game and his whole bankroll is $80. If he can pay the $100 to go pro, then anyone here can as well.

With respect to our SBR discussion, only SBR knows so we are just speculating, but I do think SBR cares as to if you are a non-pro vs. pro. Especially if you are a Non-US poster.

Advertising is only a portion of SBR Rev, another portion is the referral fee SBR gets by you signing up under their name. The only way a Non-US poster can go pro is to deposit via their link and give SBR the referral. Why? Probably because they are getting a cut of the action. So, if you are a non-US non-pro, you haven't deposited via a link and thus, SBR hasn't made any money off you.

As to whether or not US non-pros add value to SBR, aside from some traffic, they don't. Being a pro is a sign of allegiance to SBR. Non-Pros probably have accounts here and at other forums across the street, so how does that differentiate SBR form the other forums?

D2D, appreciate the points. You could be correct, but I'm thinking there is a difference from SBR's viewpoint.

    So, let's discuss my case.

I did not ever ever receive a tax write off for the two years that I was pro. In fact, I was never even paid by SBR for finishing 11th or 12th in the Beat The Prick context two years ago. They asked for all of my information and never even sent it. I did reach out once or twice, but it wasn't worth the $200US or whatever they were going to pay me.

Beyond that, I don't bet with bet points. I never really have and likely never will. No offense, but it just doesn't seem worth my time. I have never got a gift card or bothered with it in general...in fact two years ago I won 38,000 points in 24 hours in the casino....and instead of doing anything with them, I just lost them back in the casino. I just didn't care.

It may be +EV, but if you think that everyone lives their life making sure that everything they do is +EV....your head is clearly in the clouds.

To to say that somebody is broke if they aren't a pro is silly. I wager between $2-$3k most days, and have been doing so for the better part of five years.

Again....it doesn't bug me if somebody is a pro or not....even though the more serious guys, who will stick around are usually pros and ghosts won't buck up...that's the only real difference.

    You asked me me to give you one good reason why somebody shouldn't go pro....and I can give you many, but the best of the bunch is;

    'I don't give a fukk'

I may end up going pro again....as I see that BIGDAY has been raising funds or something for a good cause (although I don't know what it is....I just noticed this yesterday), but this certainly won't be to 'raise my credibility' or to appease somebody that thinks that non-pros are broke or losers.

And Fire, I never said that there isn't a difference between pros and non-pros to SBR. There clearly is. All I said was that even non-pros bring value to SBR. Value in traffic and in content.

This is not entirely true Fire.
Forget advertisement and traffic - SBR's biggest money maker are the kickbacks that they get from the books for every single player, that they bring on board. Both PROs and non-PROs can sign up for a new acct on this page right here:
    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/betting-sites/bonuses/

...and immediately start making money for the owners of this site- as long as the gambler keep losing of course.

So a guy like Longwood with 150 posts, who's a non-pro, but who just happened to sign up for a few sportsbooks through SBR's referral link, could be 1000x more valuable to this company, than a poster who never sign up for anything here like me.

You can leave this board for good tomorrow, but as long as you keep playing and losing at the book, that SBR referred you to - they will continue to make money off of you.

Here is an example on how this affiliate program works at 5D's:

Again, I seriously doubt anyone goes pro just because its +EV. I do it because it gives back to charity and in turn, I believe it helps SBR.

So, with all that you said, you answered the question as to why not go pro because you "don't give a fuk"

Don't give a fuk about what, pro? Do you think I jerk off to is? Its donating money to a good cause. The "I don't give a fukk" excuse is what we typically hear from people who are too fkn cheap to toss a few bones to charity.

RR, you are correct, assuming SBR receives their commission based on net losses.

5Dimes will pay the Affiliate a commission either based on the players' net losses or on the referred customer's first deposit.

However, I think they get their money based on the first deposit. That is why I believe you have to use a link to another book and make a first deposit to go renew Pro.

I could be wrong, but very interesting either way.

However, I think they get their money based on the first deposit. That is why I believe you have to use a link to another book and make a first deposit to go renew Pro.

I could be wrong, but very interesting either way.
They would be stupid to just go for the small droppings, while leaving the entire cake on the table.
Only a few degens will ever make a large first deposit to a book they know nothing about. So I think this "first deposit" thing, just opens up the door for potentially unlimited future income stream.

I could be wrong, but that's just my understanding of things.
