Prior to being the Commissioner, Rob Manfred was the lead guitar player for THIS band...

Just go to any sports bar on Sunday at noon, easy as hell to spot who's taking bets.
(And you can find a nice hold 'em game in the back room too.)
My local charges three bucks an hour at the poker table as juice though, he runs the game.

Will players get a better product - more entertainment for the buck? Would it bring more players into the marketplace-what would legalization do to the volume of money spent on this product? If the government takes the tax money and pisses it away-we have not made any progress.

On the other hand, the sports books could domicile in the USA-whoa - does that take money out of other pockets and not really generate additional tax money in the long run? Would it collect taxes from players from other countries?

Sorry, for so many questions, lol - it looks like one big Las Vegas - they might lose a little in this scenario?

When you state the phrase govt won't make any money, from any kind of service or product that is detrimental to society, you're clearly living in a world full of rainbows and butterflies and fairies

The larger point is that in order to skirt taxes locals wouldn't go away ... plus they have credit, another convenience factor

Governments, local and fed have essentially ruined horse racing in many locales...

It won't lower anyones taxes, so leave it alone. Besides, it will just be more cash for the politicians to steal.

I asked Buzzy the local once "does offshore take a bite out of his take"?
    He snickered, "hardly"

Offshore is a huge barrier to betting though; hardly a good analogy to sports wagering offered at a racetrack, casino, or downtown shop.

If buying lottery tickets is legal I don't know why gambling isn't. Murica, the land of the free.
