About 30 mins in... he starts telling the whole table we all should do what he is doing He said "House has no edge" and insinuated we were stupid - One guy next to him politely began explaining to him the flaw in his thinking

Long story short... the table got heated because the know-it-all guy got louder (could have been drinking/drugs) with his bullshit. Finally the floorman told the whole table to 'drop it' - guy stopped for 5 mins then started again

Security escorted him out

You would not believe how many times at the hard rock where I saw people walking up to the craps table dropping money on the pass line when the point was already established. Even on points 4 and 10. I try to tell them they should just bet the box number instead and they'd look at me like I was crazy or they say they don't care. Unreal!

One guy walked up and put a 5k chip on the pass with the point of 4 already established. 4 hit and he would have made 2-1 minus the juice instead of 1-1.

Guy says "I don't care, I play 5k a hand BJ"

Same dude that rolled and won me 3k Friday night had another classic roll. He made me almost 3k again. But then I was still on tilt from the Falcons loss and kept playing. Only walked away up $500. The hot chicks at the table also kept me in the game. The hot blonde next to me said she would give me a BJ if I made her 1k. I collapsed under the pressure and immediately sevened out!

Let's say you play 100 a hand both ways - 12 comes up 1 in 36 rolls. Roughly costs 3 bucks a roll to do this. But, then you get true odds - let's say 10 x odds - if it was a six you could take odds of 1000 gets you 1200 instead of1200 gets 1400 if you place it which is about the same as 1000 gets 1166. So, the guy gets 34 more 5 times out of 36 that the 6 hits - it is better on 5 & 9 - he would get 100 more the 4 times a 5 hits. Instead of buying a 4 or 10 for 50 bucks on a 1000 place bet. Big difference there of 1000 gets 2000 or 1000 gets 1800 on a place bet.

So, I do not think it is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of if there is 10 or 100 times odds. You could throw out 3 bucks on a twelve on the hop to pay 90 each time to be the cost of getting the true odds? My computer would tell you that this is about as close to 50/50 you can get. Just the math of losing 100 on 1 of 36 rolls.

'free odds' is illusionary , in that it somehow changes the vig on passline bets

pass = 1 bet
odds = 1 bet

so you have two separate wagers which cannot be made at the same time ('put' bets still only pay even on flat)

run the free odds bet (5x or 100x) out to infinium = break even - no vig

do the same with a flat pass bet = -1.41% on total amount of money wagered

People that play 10x odds think of the pass line bet as a coat hanger for what they really want to do. The odds are simply true odds after the point has been established. It is the one game in the casino where the player can participate. That is the only possible advantage. But, there is the catch 22 - they run you just like black jack - dice cannot be above the table height - blah blah.

Some people only play this way cause they like putting odds on the do's with the 6 and 8 and like placing odds on the donts if the point is 4 or 10. Or vice versa

Favorite craps "strategy" is building an iron cross and getting a hot shooter. Last time I was in Vegas the first 3 crosses crapped out right away but the next guy went on an epic 30+ run and we cleaned the table out.

Also fun to be the only guy betting don't pass and getting heat from the rest of the losers cause it's "bad luck"
