LT's Fearless New Year's Six Bowl Predictions

These predictions assume all favorites winning this weekend, which is obviously not a given, but here goes...

    Peach Bowl; Alabama vs. Washington
Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State vs. Clemson
Cotton Bowl: Penn State vs. Western Michigan
Orange Bowl: Florida State vs. Michigan
    Rose Bowl: USC vs. Wisconsin
    Sugar Bowl: Auburn vs. Oklahoma

Toughest calls were USC in Rose and Auburn in Sugar. Rose could be Colorado if they lose to Washington but remain ahead of USC. Sugar could be Florida if they are competitive enough vs. Alabama to pass Auburn.

The only one of these 12 teams already locked in to its bowl is Florida State in the Orange. Beyond that, all other spot are dependent on this week's results.

SCRATCH this, nobody is locked in due to possible Virginia Tech upset of Clemson.

I disagree with the committee waiting if BOTH WMU and Navy win. If Western Michigan wins to finish undefeated, they should get Cotton no matter what over two-loss Navy team. Remember, the Group of Five conferences are theoretically considered comparable.

Colorado upsets Wash and wins Pac 12.

    1. Bama
    2. Clemson
    3. Ohio State
    4. Michigan.

    Why not?

At the end of the day it tells me you are predicting all the favorites to win this weekend. Actually, you are assuming it.

This is not a good assumption and clearly you know it.

Penn State will play Wisconsin close, which means they could win it. What changes for you? Rose Bowl? Where does Wisconsin fall?

    Don't underestimate Penn St.

Say it until it rhymes..."don't underestimate Penn State."

The wrong team is favored and it is intentional by the originators.

For those who are curious, the best numbers and market metrics I see shows Penn State winning that game 31-28. And other analytics tell me that forecast is good against the current, rising spread, and as well as the moneyline.

Many likely disagree with me, but it is my opinion that Wisconsin, whether they win or lose on Friday, is not a good bet, especially against the spread.

Good Luck this bowl season LT.

Yeah definitely.. That's why imo it only gets effed up if Ohio can pull off the big upset. They did take Tennessee into the 4th quarter at Tenn and only fell by 9.

That's an easy one. If other favorites hold, Penn State/Wisconsin winner goes to Rose Bowl, loser goes to Cotton Bowl.

Doubt committee would let in TWO non-champions from Big Ten, Big Ten Champ probably get 4th seed.

Sugar Bowl has no choice, Auburn is second highest ranked SEC team (believe it or not) and only team behind them that plays this week is Florida.

Here is an interesting little tidbit guaranteed to make you a few bucks at a bar. Back in 2013, Lane Kiffin was fired as the HC of USC. Clay Helton too over on an interim basis and led USC to a win over Fresno State in the Las Vegas Bowl. As luck would ha ve it, Fresno State opened the season at USC the following year. This season, it looks as if Western Michigan will advance to the Cotton Bowl with a win over Ohio in their CC game. If that happens, there is an outside chance of them playing Clay Helton's USC team, who some think will get the Cotton Bowl invite if they do not go to the Rose Bowl. Guess who USC opens against next season? Western Michigan at the Coliseum.

LSU is still better though, that game was at Auburn with Miles still the coach. LSU would be favored over Auburn on a neutral field right now, and LSU was the only team to give Alabama a real game this year.

Eventually what happens on the field has to matter.
Just because Ohio State would be favored over Penn State today doesn't mean Ohio should be in the big 10 title game

But because Ohio State is "better" than Penn State, they are in Playoff. By that same logic, LSU should be ranked ahead of Auburn.

ole miss was alabama's toughest game. alabama was lucky to win. they needed a punt return td and a defensive td to win by 5.

Bama had a big lead vs, Ole Miss before Rebels scored 15 points in final minute thanks to onside kick.
