Enough of the baseball threads until next year. Cubs won the series, let's not act like they are a dynasty

You realize that Cubs are made up of all young star players. What happens when they all want to be paid here shortly? The team isn't going to be able to pay half these guys and if they do they won't have any money for a pitching staff.

It's not that shortly. They are all 5 years away from getting paid.

    Team control through:
    Bryant 2021
    Baez 2021
    Contreras 2021
    Hendricks 2021
    Russell 2021
    Schwarber 2021
    Rizzo 2021
    Lester 2020
    Zobrist 2019
    Soler 2020

Basically, all of the young talent is controlled for 5 more seasons. Then they would have to unload the truck. Now certainly they will try to get some of these guys locked up and pay more upfront. But the young talent is not becoming free agents anytime soon. They will have to keep adding to the rotation and obviously Arrieta is a big decision.

As for the revenue side, the Cubs contract runs through 2019. Then they are starting their own network. They are literally going to be able to print money. Going to make the Dodgers TV deal look like child's play. They will need to build a warehouse to store all the cash.

I'd really be shocked if they don't win another one within the next 5 years and if they don't make the playoffs basically every season. That's how Theo set this up. Of course they won't win every year. But they will be a major factor probably every season and they will be back.

Just thank the Giants for knocking the Mets out in the first round or Cubs won't have went anywhere. Mets own them

Come on man... Cubs would've destroyed the Mets. They were no where close to the level of last year when they got hot and made the world series.

Well considering Mets took 5 out of 7 games off the Cubs this season I would say the numbers would tell us different but whatever you say.

Look at Arrieta second half of regular season..his Era was much higher. Chapman isn't great. Cubs are not gonna be NY Yankee dynasty....did we forget they were down 3 games to 1.

They can sign or trade for pitching. The core is the horde of young position talent locked up cheap for the next half-decade. I suspect Chapman won't be re-signed.

Lester and Arrieta are shitty? OK pal.

And they will add. Not that hard.

Also, I bet Montgomery will be pretty good as a starter.

Yankees have a tough climb to get back to relevance. They have SOME young talent but don't really see a high ceiling for any of these kids.

Not sure how long you mean. Lester should be good for another 2-4. Arrieta maybe 3-5, if he's retained. They have plenty of time to find the next talent, young pieces to move around and the right leadership to put it together. Theo turned over the entire roster, organization and culture in 4-5 years, I think he can find a few pitchers in the next few years to fill in gaps. Every team has gaps and challenges. Having a horde of young athletic positional talent is the ideal way to mold an organization for sustained success. Th Cubs are the envy of every front office. They were before they won the World Series. No more or less so now. And, they are already financially strong, but within a few years they will be flat out rolling in cash.

Yanks aren't winning shit any time soon,
Question marks all over the place.

Biggest question mark? Gary Sanchez, legit stud or fluke flash in the pan?
Ellsbury is only 33, but can he play 150 games again?
Gardner should be traded for pitching, he's an overrated, no pop, .260 hitter with plus speed. Not to mention he's a whiny nancy boy.
Bird is unproven and 1B DiDi and Castro are ordinary (but capable) Headly is a fraud.

Here's the big reason why they won't win shit for at least 3 years.
All the kids they got won't be ready for prime time in two years time, they got a good crop kids, but they ain't Rizzo and Bryant and Schwarber good. I'm not sure if Gary Sanchez is Schwarber good.

    And lastly, pitching.
Closer is good, Betances is who they wanted closing all along. set up is good, they got Clippard,
No real problems with the bullpen.

Big time problems with the starters however.
    Who's starting next year?
    CC's finished.
Tanaka's arm is a ticking time bomb, and Eovaldi throws a very hittable 100 mph fast ball.
    Pineada is ordinary (at best)

The best FA starting pitchers are Weaver, Iwaguma, and Peavy
    Yawn, yawn and yawn.

KC will go back to the WS before NY will.
Best thing that could have happened to KC this past season was all the injuries.
Most of the call ups produced nicely.
Rey Fuentes can play, Paulo Orlando can most certainly play, same with Merrifield and Cuthbert.

I'm laying off the NYY kool ade.

I like what he's done the last few years. It's a tough overhaul. They have a proven great manager in Girardi.

I'm slightly biased based on my favorite teams but the World Series match-ups I've always wanted to see are, Yanks/Cardinals(two teams with most championships all-time) and Cubs/Sox. Disclaimer I'm a Cards and Sox fan. Cubs are my least favorite team but unfortunately they will be good for the remainder of the decade at least, if not longer. They just won the WS without anything at all from Heyward who they paid like 180 MIL to last off-season year. If he can regain just like 75% of his form from 2015, then their lineup will be ridiculous. It's hard to rip on him cause he just won the WS but I really don't agree with Maddon's lineups. He needs to bat Bryant 3rd and Rizzo 4th regularly. He finally did that game 6 of the WS and look what happened. Offense exploded. Schwarber should bat 5th. Zobrist 2nd. Baez/Soler/Heyward whoever is playing 6th and 7th, Contreras 8th. That's an incredibly deep lineup capable of huge damage.

It depends how much talent the Yankees got back for Chapman and Miller.
