College Basketball Tipoff Only 45 Days Away

It's never too early to take a look at the CBB slate. The 2016-17 season tips off on Friday, November 11 with some BIG TIME games that we will surely have action on:

    Michigan State vs Arizona
    Kansas vs Indiana
    Marquette vs Vanderbilt
    Ohio State vs Navy

I'll be monitoring preseason and exhibition matches over the next month or so, and I'll post early spreads as soon as I can find them.

College basketball is more of a burial than college football because there's just tons and tons of games probably eight times the amount of college football

I'm gonna get the Athlon Sports CBB Preview magazine. I also like reading the top 50/100 players lists. I read up on all the transfers and incoming freshmen in case I forgot - but I follow recruiting year round.

Then I read up on summer camps and exhibition games leading up to the regular season tip off. I'm checking daily now for early lines for MSU-Arizona and Indiana-KU.

FYI - Duke's star freshman Harry Giles just had knee surgery today & is out 6 weeks or so. He's widely expected to be the #1 or #2 pick in the next NBA draft.

Blue Ribbon is the way to go. Athlon isn't as in depth. I recommend the pdf+book combo that Blue Ribbon does

Their best player just had knee surgery.

Kansas and Kentucky now jump ahead of Duke in my rankings at least.

Hoping SDSU continues to grow they are becoming a preannual ncaa tourny team but would love to see them get farther than sweet sixteen their coach is very very good and their defense is stiffeling

Perennial defensive powerhouse, but the past couple seasons have had cringeworthy offense. I wouldn't expect anything more than S16 this year.

Sure is! And best sport for SBR in terms of winning. I recorded all my bets the last 2 years with 59% win rate. And others here on SBR are very good at cbb too!

Unlike NFL where most here are losers lol

College hoops is my favorite sports to bet. Can't wait.

Thinking about splitting season tickets with a friend. My team might have b2b #1 picks this year and next.

Gotcha. Fultz is the real deal. It's too bad you lost players to NBA last season and Nigel Willaims-Goss transferred or else Washington would be lookin realllllllly good.

Should compete for the PAC with the ducks and wildcats.

Ducks should take the conference. UCLA will be pretty good, they got a really good incoming class and return a lot of players. I think Washington will be improved from last year, and I think they have a decent shot at making the dance. As talented as last years team was, they were too young. The entire team was freshman. Washingotn won't be as talented as last year, but they will be more balanced and have more experience which should help. I'm not expecting a lot this year, but next years team should be really good with Michael Porter Jr. They also have another 4-star kid coming in. IF (big if) Fultz decides to come back to play with Michael Porter Jr, Huskies will be a popular pick for the national championship.

KRIT, I disagree, I think the Ducks will be good, but I think this conference is Arizona's for the taking. With returning sophomore stud Alonzo Trier (potentially the most talented soph in the country), a couple capable bigs (7-footers), a couple top-20 incoming freshmen, and a healthy Ray Smith, they should be a national champion contender.

Oregon should be a very solid team, but their national success will depend on the health of Dillon Brooks, who looks to be injured and hobbled and we will see how he bounces back.

Meanwhile up in Washington, Kelle Fultz said his goal is to win the PAC tournament and earn an automatic bid into the NCAA championship. While I think he can lead his team to achieve that, that also means they are unlikely to do much more than that. Expectations are so critical in March and play a major factor in team's outcomes.

Washington gonna be hot garbage again this year. They'll fight USC, Arizona State, and Stanford for 5th in the conference behind Oregon, Arizona, UCLA, and Colorado. Don't sleep on UCLA this year. TJ Leaf and Ball are both top 15 FR at positions of need for them. Leaf will be the style of PF that they need instead of the big lumbering oaf from last year and Bolden. Ball is a huge haul because he's easily a top 10 player in the class and he will allow Alford to move off the ball where he'll be much better as a scorer IMO. I have UCLA as the 3rd best team in that conference and close to Arizona.

Another team to look out for is Minnesota in the Big 10. Really flukey year last year for them. Had injuries and guys that didn't want to play. They bring back 3 starters, add in 2 frontcourt studs (1 from Illinois State and 1 from Iowa State) plus a top 40 FR guard and another solid grad transfer. Should easily be one of the most improved teams in the country, along with Duke and Illinois
