    Carolina Panthers 2017

Agent Drew Rosenhaus said a decision hasn’t been made on if Greg Olsen will hold out of training camp.

I think the key to betting the Panthers is that Cam Newton just isn't going to play the way he did in previous seasons such as the year the Panthers made the super bowl. Carolina has always been a good front runner when they are at home and Cam Newton is running all over the place, but now that Newton got paid and is older he's just not going to put his body at risk that much anymore - and he's never been a great pocket quarterback - Carolina Newton not running aggressively is an 8-10 team in a tough division.

Carolina doesn't seem to care about getting Newton much receiving help either in the draft or through free agency, who was his last decent receiver.

A very tough Division. Atlanta certainly is strong. New Orleans can score, and can be very difficult to beat if they ever find any semblance of a defense. Tampa Bay has the best defense in the Division and finished 8-4 after a 1-3 start last season.

Carolina Panthers rookie running back Christian McCaffrey has looked impressive in training camp, according to Max Henson of the Panthers’ official team website.

McCaffrey, who played his college football at Stanford University, was only able to participate in one day of organized team activities in June due to a rule that prevented rookies from quarter-system schools from taking part in team events until the school’s final exams had been completed.

Now, McCaffrey is finally on the field for good, and his coaches and teammates are liking what they are seeing.

“A lot of our guys like what Christian is going to bring to the table,” Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said. “When guys come up to you and make comments about a guy’s ability, that’s fun. Guys come up and tell you, ‘This guy can be special, Coach.’ We’re seeing it, and hopefully you continue to see it.”

Star linebacker Luke Kuechly has been one of the first Carolina players to take notice of McCaffrey’s skill.

“He’s quick. He’s got shake. He’s fast,” said Kuechly. “He got me today on one run, but luckily Thomas (Davis) was right next to me. He’s very precise with his movements. He is in and out of breaks quick. He does a good job, and I think he is going to be somebody who can help us out.”

The Panthers selected McCaffrey with the eighth overall pick of the draft back in April.

Carolina will play its first preseason game on Wednesday, Aug. 9, when it hosts the Houston Texans.
