Wrong again Weeder. Naismith moved from Canada to the US, taking a job at the YMCA in Springfield, Mass. There he was ordered to come up with a game to keep the kids entertained by YMCA director Dr Gulick. It was here in the mighty USA that he came up with what later would be called basketball. Naismith also became a US citizen, so basketball was definitely created in the US, it's creator was American under the direction of another American. Naismith went on to Kansas where he coached Phog Allen and the rest is history. He just happened to be born in Canada. Thats a different historical timeline from what ive learned.
Thought he was A Canadian citizen teaching at McGill when he developed the rules.
Game is still dominated by Americans and loved by American fans. No need to take credit away from the rightful country of origin.
