Eagles & Tom Coughlin Talks Intenisfy

    This looks like it's happening.

I truly beleive Lurie had no plan when firing chip. Was just so disgusted with the guy and how he treated people he just made a rash decision with no plan B.

Since when is Coughlin an upgrade on Chip? Might as well have not fired him...

That said I think Coughlin will be best suited like Chip to a middle of the pack team potentially on the rise and not a bottom feeder rebuilder like the 49ers as some sources linked him too.

Looks like he's coming into today for a more in depth "face to face meeting"

I just love all the giants fans bashing him, saying he's a bum. Guy wins 2 Super Bowls and hes trash

i honestly don't know if this is an upgrade. Giants did have ton of injuries this year. No way he was going to Niners. I doubt he'd want to uproot his family out west.

I'd personally feel this is a downgrade. Like I've said....very few instances of old coaches winning in the NFL.

I have the utmost respect for Coughlin. He appears to be a great man. And he's clearly been a great coach.

Just not sure you want to start a whole new culture with a 70 year old.

gotta agree with Opie on this one . If they were bringing in a young O coordinator then maybe I'd be on board more. Frustrating that a year ago coming of a 10-6 season and now whole organization in shambles. Who's the QB? What's the offensive scheme? How are you using Murray?

Coughlin wasn't the problem in NY, I blame Reese. I'd take Coughlin over half the coaches still alive in the playoffs.

Heavenly Father I pray for the Eagles fans, I ask that you comfort them in these dark times. I pray that you open the ownerships eyes and show them how bad Coughlin is as a coach. In Jesus's name we pray Amen.

Pete Carroll is the second oldest coach in the league. I personally can't stand the guy, but somebody listens to him??? Just a thought.

it's funny because everybody said the same thing about Andy Reid when he left Philadelphia...how he was washed up, he bad he sucked, and how the Eagle players were tuning him out, etc, etc...and now look how he's turned around KC and what a big difference he has made in the last two years he's been there...sometimes you need a breather and a fresh start....this just might be a good move for both the eagles and Coughlin...I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...

Yes I am, but I'm praying for you guys. People are so caught up in his 2 fluke SB wins. He's one of the worst in game coaches in the NFL.

not one but TWO fluke SB wins huh. I believe they had to win 4 games both those years?

look. I'm the furthest thing from a Coughlin or giants supporter. I did respect how he always got the most from his team & they were always ready come playoff time.

Yes those wins were all Coughlin, it had nothing to do with Eli playing the best football of his life. And the last 4 years he just randomly couldn't get the best out his players? have you ever watched a Giants game Philly?

Jeffie so it's wasn't the scheme at all. Just Eli playing his best ball? That just doesn't make much sense to me

i typically watch 2 maybe 3 giants games per year. How bout yourself?

It's the NFC East, which is easily the worst division in the NFC. The big problem I see here is Coughlin taking a team geared for an offense that he does not run. Now he would have to rebuild and at age 70, I do not know if he wants to do that.

Coughlin isn't going to take that job the Eagles are too far away from being a legitimate threat for a guy his age to deal with.

    Adam Schefter

Tom Coughlin is withdrawing his name from consideration for Eagles HC job, per sources. Not the right fit.

49ers expected to choose between Chip Kelly and Mike Shanahan for their next HC, per league sources. Decision likely within next 24 hours.

With Tom Coughlin out of the picture, the Eagles now are expected to pursue Chiefs OC Doug Pederson as their next head coach, per source.

Former Dolphins' HC Joe Philbin expected to be named Giants’ new offensive coordinator.
