How much money is garnished from your check each week?

because of child support, taxes, student loans, etc

of course most here dont work, other half are trolls so prob won't get many serious responses.

Bcats was telling us why he only does cash jobs, etc because he would be basically working for nothing if anything was garnished. Tried telling him would only be 25 percent. I think, but i understand his point.

    Hot topic in chat.

pretty sure they can never take over 25 percent, no matter what.

I guess they don't have to take 25 percent, but wondered.

This isn't about me. But came up as a topic on chat, another forum and on facebook

The maximum amount is 25%. If there are multiple garnishments, the second creditor must wait until the first creditor is paid until paid in full, or until the garnishment ends or pauses.

so if someone owes for student debt and child support. Its just whoever did it first?
sounds like someone could be owe for rest of their lives.

No wonder alot of people don't want jobs . I know some people want to get student debt wiped out which makes some mad but something needs to be done about creditors, student debts, medical debt, etc

I have a cousin that was in jail over not paying support and his ex wife married a multi millionaire. It didnt matter, he had to pay.
You would think the ex would help out or something

I would think child support would take first priority (at least hope it does)

Health insurance is a big deduction. IMO since it's inception, has hurt our economy immensely. People are forced to
pay with no raise to compensate.

That $500 a month going to insurance companies and not going into the economy has sent us into a depression in '08.

Add up your insurance bill for the month and divide by hours worked for the month. If you pay $500 a month insurance and work 40 hours a week, that's 160 hours. $3.12 of what you make an hour goes to insurance alone.

You can use that formula for taxes, child support, student loans, food or anything. I recommend not doing it, it will make you sick. You will wonder why you can't get ahead.

There is a scheduled amount that is supposed to come out of the paycheck, or 25% whichever is LESS.

In one of my stores, child support garnishment exceeds the total amount of the one my part - timer's bi-weekly checks and I have to garnish 50%.
