SBR Store adds St. Jude's childrens hospital donation

It's a good day in SBRforum history. The SBR Store has now added an option for posters to use their SBR loyalty points to purchase donations for St. Jude's childrens hospital.

SBR will provide a scanned copy of a cashier's check within a week of the donation being made.

It would be nice if SBR matches the posters donation so that St. Jude can benefit twice. The children need all the help they can.

If you tell me that this donation can be written off at the end of the year I'll say SBR never ceases to amaze me

Donations to Gamblers Anonymous would be helpful also.

Updated the original post - we will be able to provide proof of the donation amount via a scanned copy of cashier check to the buyer within a week of the donation being made.

    Good idea.

My points will likely be used for this.

One question: Whose name will the donation be in?

Good question, the IRS may not approve a tax deduction on behalf of "Shortstop"

This a great move forward and hope a similar set-up can be done for the Make A Wish Foundation or for Cancer Research.

    topgame85,

Tonight I was able to raise over 1,400 betpoints which translates to nearly six (6) cards plus the two I plan on getting that makes $240 gets to go to a great charity. Not to shabby of a night I'd say. You and other's can read about it in the points forum.

Well done TA. I remember you suggesting that this be added to the store a couple of months ago.

On a separate thought. SBR should fire its PR staff. Adding a charity to the point store on the same day they lower the daily points for the first post sends a bit of a mixed message. It was going to be hard enough to get folks to part with their points to give to the charity. It will be that much harder with a 16% reduction in income. Such is life.

Thank you jgray but I did not mention St Jude's by name unless one counts or other worthy charity as such. The two I donate to the most are the Make A Wish Foundation and Cancer Research Foundation and I hope at least one of them, if not both, can and will be added to the store soon. It's a win-win situation as SBR can use the donation for taxes and the posters can know they're doing something good.

you have to be kidding me that you'd try to write off a $30 donation for tax purposes?
