Yup. Man, 10.5 mil is so much money to leave. Crazy. But this Spurs team is stacked now.

hes going to be great for Spurs. Gives them interior defense, rebounding, toughness, scoring. Guy will not be forced to play iso in Spurs offense, so I expect his efficiency will be much higher.

Left 11.1 million on the table this year. Represents 12% of his gross career earnings.

    Giant is on to something.
    Future ownership stake?
    Future Coaching job?
He's getting something on the back end.

Giant isn't on to anything. Pretty clear west is a sharp guy. For sure he has saved his money wisely. He looks like a pros pro.

He went to xavier so he is definitely no dummy. Maybe he wants a ring. Hopefully he hangs out at my cousins bar on the riverwalk so I can get a few pics.

If he can win a title, then with the cap explosion next year, he'll get some nice offers. It makes for a great story and might give him a leg up for a cushy commentator gig when he retires. The atmosphere in Indiana was getting worse, must be bad when you're willing to walk from $12M. The guy is also near the end of his career and tired of losing. Athletes always talk about wanting to win, he's putting his money where his mouth is and showing he's serious about it.

How is what the Spurs are doing even fair?

In all fairness 4 of their top 6 players do not have too much left in the tank.

Wouldn't be surprised if they are able to grab some major talent in FAs a few years from now when Dunc/park/ginob/west are all retired.

Spurs probably still won't win. They aren't even that good. Parker and manu are washed up. West is decent. Aldridge plays zero defence and it won't mesh out with the rotation.
