    NFL nixes three Dolphins

    What a Joke!

Anti-gambling NFL nixes three Dolphins playing in a poker tournament.

The NFL is making sure to rid the league of legal gambling that has nothing to do with anything related to the sport.

After pressuring Tony Romo to cancel a fantasy football event with fans because it took place in a Las Vegas convention center that is attached to a casino, the NFL told three Miami Dolphins players that they couldn't participate in a celebrity poker tournament because their involvement was promoted.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the NFL emailed Dolphins players A.J. Francis, Jason Fox and Jordan Cameron to tell them their promoted appearance at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek would be in violation of NFL rules against promoting casino activities. Event organizer Andy Slater, a talk-show host in Florida who has been hosting the tournament the past few years, also got an email from the league according to the Sun-Sentinel.

"The NFL is just doing this [with the Dolphins] as a precaution," Slater told the Sun-Sentinel. "It's an absolute joke. "The NFL is built on gambling. This is the players' time off, and they hang out with fans at a legal gambling event at a legit casino."
The players were promoted as "bounty" players for the $94 buy-in tournament, meaning if a player knocked one of the Dolphins out of the tournament then they got a bonus.

It's okay, they can just go over to fanduel and play some daily fantasy sports...which clearly isn't gambling, heh.

Missing the point that its not playing poker the NFL is against, its the fact the casino is using NFL "property" to promote the event. Of course they put a stop to that. The fact its not a charity event, only making the casino money, makes it an easy play for the shield.

Its still ridiculous. All these major sports and the anti gambling shit they spew. None of them realize they would not be near as big without gambling and fantasy sports (which in my opinion is as much gambling as poker or sports). Goodell and company think fans are ponying up 100's of dollars for NFL Sunday ticket because they really care what half the shit show league is doing?

Fortunately for them the gamblers are such die hards that they buy it and support it anyway so the hypocritical leagues can continue to stay on the high horse. It will eventually change of course once the league figures out how they can properly capitalize on these things to best line their pockets. Much like prohibition, and more recently marijuana people will eventually look back at these stupid, archaic laws and laugh at the time, energy and money wasted trying to enforce them in the "land of the free"

Romo should just hold his convention in Dallas or somewhere in Texas

" Land of the Free " ! Hey down south I used that line just the other day in a different topic.
The only things I see left that are really free are increases of benenfits for the " poor ( don't wanna get myself in trouble ") and the squashing of the unemployed little guy in his early 50's ( that's be me). I'm 20:1 to get the benefits I know I qualify for!!!

Where Vince ?? " What the fukk is going on aroundhere ?"
