    Okay I need your guys opinions. I have a possible hedge situation tonight.
    Last night I parlayed kings ml, golden state ml, Dodgers, Arizona and today's cincinnati Reds game. All 4 hit so now it's up to the Reds to win tonight.
    $60 to win $1300. What would you do?

    If you truly feel that way then why bet a 5 teamer. Just bet a 4 teamer, take the profit from that instead of double vigging yourself by betting the other side back now.

    May not be the right mathematical move to hedge. But it can be mentally helpful. I'd probably hedge $180 and think to myself I've locked in $1120 or 3 free shots at the same type of bet again.

    As you know, most people who bet parlays are just trying to get lucky. If it gets to the point in which you may win, I have no issues with booking a small win, still having the opportunity to make a good amount.

    Anyone who bets parlays is already at a disadvantage, and probably doesnt know that straight betting is the key to winning.

    depends on how much 1300 means to you. If its a huge number then you should hedge because chances are youll be happy with 800 or so but if 1300 is not that big of a deal let it ride

    Pro's aren't betting parlays like that in the first place and guys expect for him to let it ride when it's obvious the potential payoff is meaningful to his life? The answer is to fukkin hedge! The answer on whether to hedge or not always DEPENDS and anyone telling you something different doesn't know what the fuk they are talking about.

    Take the OPs situation:

    5 team parlay
    4 games won last night
    1 game tonight

    This is not smart at all. He should have bet the 4 teamer on last night's games. Then either let the full amount ride on the reds, which would be essentially making it a 5 teamer, or bet whatever amount he wanted on the reds. These options would have saved him all the juice that he paying to make his hedge, and accomplishing the exact same thing.

    I just hope some guys read this thread and learn something about smart wagering.

    If you want to place parlays and know you will get cold feet and bail on the last leg then place a small 4 leg parlay in addition to your 5 legger at the start to avoid constantly falling into this trap

    To just hedge is stupid, you know what your potential win is when you place your bet so you always knew you were going to hedge. You cant use it being a meaningful amount to your life as an excuse, because you knew that was the payout when you placed the bet!
