Is Chip Kelly still a moron???? Or a mad genius

He got a lot of negative publicity after trading Foles and some draft picks for Bradford

Now he lands Murray. I know for a fact they're close and would be surprised if Bradford being in Philly wasn't instrumental in getting Murray there

In hindsight, this team on paper is much, much better off than last years team. Bradford and Murray for Foles and some draft picks?

    Mad FUKKING genius

Results shouldn't determine if they're good trades or not

    lets look independent of that

Has he put together a more talented team this year?

Uhhhh...how would you possibly know this team is much better than last years? Besides Murray....the 5 players acquired by Eagles played just 23 gms COMBINED last yr: Bradford (0), Alonso (0), Thurmond (2), Mathews (8), Maxwell (13)

    Hmmmm.......Foles/McCoy/Maclin or Bradford/Murray/Cooper?

Thats a much more palatable trade, one that clearly favors the Eagles.

Bradford for Foles was basically a lateral trade, it was only the draft picks that skewed it a bit but now with Murray and assuming Bradford played a role in him going to Philly, those draft picks don't look so important now

After all is said and done, yes, this trade will be judged by the results.

But today we don't have that benefit and a logical discussion can be had without ever knowing the results.

This is a fair point, one that's open for discussion

They're clearly better because they have two players from the VAUNTED 2008 OU Sooners

you can talk about it being a great trade all you want, but if they go 500 or some shit next year, then it doesn't matter. not that we should never talk about the future in sports, but you're painting it as though all of his moves are a success when really there hasn't been any significant additions vs what he's given up. this isn't exactly the cavs trading for love or something like that.

Murray was a FA. Had nothing to do with the trade. The trades he made were awful. Neither Bradford or Murray will play every game. Murray was using the Eagles as leverage and it back fired. He goes to a worse team in a worse city away from where he grew up. Not to mention the tax implications. Murray wanted to stay in Dallas. Now you have an often injured RB who was just worked like a pack mule. Kelly overhauled a team with injury prone players when he didn't need to. He's trying to be the kooky, smartest guy in the room.

I realize Murray was a FA and the Bradford trade didn't directly involve Murray. But Bradford being in Philly played a big role in Murray going to Philly IMO. And that makes the trade and Murray signing indirectly linked. I don't think Murray goes to Philly if Bradford isn't there and I think Kelly knew this. Murray was more his trophy than Bradford. Bradford was simply fish bait.

And that to me is pretty fukking impressive.

I don't think last years work load will affect Murray much next year, am I being naive? He's got the whole off season to recover

Murray will help - and all of a sudden McCoy for LB looks great, but it's tough to get past the Foles trade.

The main reason Murray went to phila was Bradford not the coach

I partly agree. Murray is a step up from McCoy in all facets of the game at this point in their careers.

But if you think the Murray signing really helps the Eagles (which it does), then you have to get past the Bradford trade.

Because without the Bradford trade the Eagles don't get Murray.

And the Eagles really didn't even give up much in the trade. They got a QB that is at least as good, arguable more talented, than Foles. The draft picks were really the only questionable part of the deal and now that we see the Bradford trade was only a piece of the puzzle, it appears Kelly is more crafty than I had thought.

Like Steve Spurrier, Marc Trestman, and Pete Carroll his first two gigs. Thinking outside the box usually gets you coaching outside of the stadium. PAUL Westhead with the Nuggets did it his way too.

    Let's see....

    Worse at QB
    Worse at WR
    Lost 2 of your O-Line
And a lateral move at RB.

    Sounds brilliant

You just named 2 guys who have won multiple championships though, one being an absolute legend in NCAAF

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't....but gotta give it a shot or we'd all be watching the single wing offense from every team

coach gets it. that o-line is great. i don't even like the damn cowboys, and am not coming to their rescue, but it's not worth paying a guy significant money when he has had his most productive year at the rb position. these guys always, it might even be like 100% of the time, take a dip after 400+ carries in a year. let chip kelly have him, who cares. he'll be hurt after two weeks anyway.
