Peyton Manning is a Rex Grossman away from being this era's Dan Marino

11-13 in the playoffs, and if you remember, the year the Colts won the Super Bowl and the Colts won 4 games in a row with Manning, he threw 2 TDs and 5 INTs in those 4 games.

So basically, the only successful playoff trip for Manning was a year in which the defense absolutely carried his atrocious play and he lucked out and got to face Rex Grossman (and his baby hands trying to throw a wet football) in the Super Bowl.

Manning is the greatest regular season QB in NFL history. Unfortunately, it ends there. This guy is putrid in the playoffs.

It was the defenses fault today, they couldnt get to luck. Broncos were out coached by Pagano. The receivers didnt help either, they kept dropping the ball. Its not Mannings fault!

    I sense sarcasm.

But honestly... 11-13. This guy is never his best at the end of the year.

I think his problem is that he makes up his mind when he's studying pics while on the sideline..

The Colts defense played a hell of a game today....it wasn't like Manning just laid down on his own. Also, some of his receivers were friggin disgraceful with the drops. I just believe the change in offensive philosophy for whatever reason (Mannings arm strength or whatever) was a mistake and really made the Broncos beatable. That Rams game was the one that exposed them for what they were....they need to be fast paced...Peyton being slow and methodical is a death trap

Manning missed so many deep balls, and a lot of them weren't close. This game falls a lot on him.

tell me when Marino ever had a running back. Marino with CJ Anderson would've been killer.

Luck's guys drop more, it's been a problem for IND all year. Indy's D isn't that good, Peyton's game is just that limited.

Beating up on the raiders fooled everybody. Broncos hadn't played worth a shit in 2 months. There was no change in offensive philosophy, it was like watching chad Pennington all over again. Once the defense realizes manning can't throw a sideline out it just made sense to jam the receivers and not worry about double moves its all over. You didn't know which receiver Peyton was throwing to in the second half.

Manning has seemed to be physically impaired now for over a month, could be his neck/arm problem flaring up again. It might be that he can't put the same touch on the ball his receivers have come to know (maybe the reason for the drops). The defensive game plan was terrible, pretty inexcusable with all the talent.

Well, of course now Manning can use his age as an excuse. But he didn't get to 11-13 career in the playoffs by accident. Especially when his 4-0 in 2006 was actually a terrible performance throughout the whole playoffs... how do you only throw 2 TDs in 4 games and win a super bowl? He got very lucky that the 2006 Colts' defense flat out dominated the rest of the league or he'd be ringless right now.

Manning is like Jamie Moyer out there. No arm strength.

Finally everyone acknowledges his diminished arm strength..he was 6/21 from longer than 5 yds..can finally end the brady vs manning debate..i actually preferred when it was still goin on. Kind of feels like a unicorn just died

Peyton just doesn't have the full season endurance at 38 anymore. He has $38 Mill coming over the next two years so we will get to see him try and prove me wrong, but yesterday he looked just plan awful. He was like 6-21 on passes over 5 YARDS! That is just plain awful. He could not beat any man on man coverage, good NFL QBs feast on man to man and Manning couldn't make it happen. I do not want to take too much away from Indy DBs, they played well, but 13 points in the playoffs at home? Soft team, and that D they paid so much for in the off season quit in the 2nd half. Terrible play calling on offense too, should have run the ball when they realized Peyton couldn't throw a ball out of a wet paper bag. All around a soft ass team, I cashed my Indy ticket but I am embarrassed for the Broncos.

Also, Peyton could never be Marino, he has a ring and that's what matters.

time to hang up the cleats.
concerning Marino I don't know if you guys are old enough to have watched
his career. Far superior passer to Manning. Only reason he didn't get a ring
    was his team sucked.

If Manning always sucked that bad then why did Belechik go for it on 4th/2 from his own 25 with the game on the line a few years ago? Manning averaged 26 ppg vs Brady's teams in their rivalry and Brady always had a better D than Manning. Is it time for him to go though....Manning is so short on confidence....he was just locking onto his first receiver yesterday like a rookie.

Manning just threw for 400 in the AFC Championship game last year. Age/injuries catches up with everyone at some point plus Denver's coaching staff gets schooled in almost every big game. Del Rio has a all-star squad on D and got burned vs every good team they played this year

Marino had a good run in 1984, only to run into Walsh and Montana's 49ers, not Lovie and Grossman's Bears.

I like how all the Peyton haters conveniently forget that NE was up 21-6 at half in the AFC Championship during the Colts SB run and Peyton led the Colts to 32 points in the 2nd half with Mr Clutch Brady throwing the game losing pick at the end.

Good point. Brady had to give the game away for Peyton to move on. It was a miracle run that year.

I would take Brady>Manning and I hate Brady but its just the fact that the Peyton haters don't acknowledge the huge advantage Brady has always had with Belechik and his defense. The best Manning ever had was Dungy and it took him how many HOFamers with Tampa and Indy to win a SB. He was always overrated

If Manning and Brady had traded teams during their careers, Manning would have Brady beat five rings to zero.

DEN had the #3 ranked D this year. Colts had a top 10 defense for half a decade with Peyton, it's a thin excuse.

That's bullshit....Brady average over 30 ppg vs the Colts. They might of had a fairly good defense vs bad teams but they usually got light up by Brady or Rivers types every time they played them. Same as Denver this year....good D on paper but got crushed vs every good offense

NE also beat IND 20-3 and 24-14. Hard to put all the blame on the D when IND can't score more than 14 points.

Marino wasn't surrounded with the kind of talent Manning has enjoyed either. Take Marino off the Dolphins and they never see a .500 record let alone the postseason. Lol, Denver has the talent to win with Tebow.

keep ignoring the 2006 AFCCG vs Pats... especially the 2nd half, he destroyed the Pats don't be mad he let the RB Addai run in the winning score, he doesn't need to throw the TD to feel great

and the road game in Baltimore (balt was #1 NFL defense, lights out all year) ignore the fact the game was what it was, a defensive grind and getting a bunch of field goals in that game got the score to where it was in the 4th q, 12-6, but what did he do? he got the ball and grinded out yet another exceptional time consuming drive, completing tough 3rd down throws and eventually getting that KILLER 5th field goal to make it a 9 point and 2 score game...GAME OVER.

you know, killer field goals... which basically MAKE UP THE STORYLINE OF BRADY'S FIRST 3 SB trips

oh, and from the very start of the SB he was playing in the same elements as the Bears and also playing from behind seeing as his shitty special teams decided to spot the Bears 7

don't be mad he played better in the elements and better utilized his guys and knew that getting the run game going was highly important with the weather

you want nice stats yet what were the pats basically doing in 01 03 and 04? grinding out wins with defense and special teams and getting just enough out of the offense, including their game-managing QB

hell, in 01 alone Brady needed the help of the tuck rule call, heroics of Vinatieri more than once, defensive scores by his team in the Super Bowl vs Rams and oh... yeah, the Pats winning the AFC Title vs Steelers with Bledsoe at QB

that's right, Brady didn't even have to earn his first trip to the SB and he came out a winner in it with stats almost as putrid as Big Ben's stats in the 05 SB vs Seattle

but that was over a decade ago, and you are probably 16 years old and know nothing

BRady hasnt had a good D since 2004..him and the offense dragged teams to the playoffs and to AFC title games..
Remeber the Pats of the past 7 years, none of who could get off the field on 3rd down...they held baltimore to like 1/9 from third down..this is the defense bill has been waiting for..If Manning went to NE, he'd still have trouble against Bradys team..More over, if Brady played on Denver this year or last year...Denver gets to the SB both years easily and Brady definitely doesnt lose 41-9 in a SB

And why do people give all the credit to vinatieri..his only job is to kick field goals..shame on other teams for hiring kickers who cant make kicks..vinatieri isnt doing shit if brady doesnt get the team into FG range
