The Pistons should not be as bad as their record. Something is seriously wrong there. Detroit should never have taken a chance on Smith the way they did...gross.

there is no way with his athletism, length, and skills around the basket, that he should be standing on the perimeter so much to shoot outside jumpers. guy could dominate down low.

    Sac will get him.

Sac tried to trade for him in June then again in July.

If you can convince him to play the 4 and be a junk man/crash the boards, he's an asset.

Good luck with that. He's allergic to team ball and addicted to jump shots. Some other franchise will figure they can get him turned around and he'll be the latest NBA reclamation project fail. History repeats itself in this awful sport.

Smith and Gay together on the same court. Holy shit.

Might as well change their name to the Sacramento And-1's.

Wouldn't mind him off the bench for the cavs. Not many guys in NBA can get 15 8 6 3 2

its partially not his fault. dumars paired him with drummond and monroe, making smith a small forward. they already had 2 post players so he was pushed to the perimeter more.

put him at PF and he is a good player, just like he was in atl

Agree, though even when they played him at the 4, he still chucked. That's what he does/is. That's what he likes to do.

Monroe should have been starting anyway, but when youre paying Josh they way you are they felt they had to, now he's the scapegoat for Gundy, wont matter they will still suck, need to get rid of Jennings next.

Pistons turned down Jason Thompson and Carl Landry trade from Sacramento during the offseason because SVG wanted to see if he could coach Smith. Guess he knows now. Smith is shooting u41 TS% and u54% FT this season (first player in NBA history to do so). Detoit even as a horrible team is net +12PTS better when he's on the bench...he's that bad.

IDK if it's because he's played mostly out of position (which is what most squares automatically think) but there's been runs where he's played exclusively PF this season with the Pistons and he's still shit. Bad shot selection, opponents have best FG% at the rim against his defense.Pistons even cut this guy when they are what 5-23 and leading the tank?

Smith is a high risk gamble at best. He might completely destroy your teams chemistry and be epically bad or revert to Atlanta era relevance again. Also, Josh Smith would also be a horrible fit for the Cavs.

If he tried to play like Zach Randolph his numbers would be good.....but the caveat is, wanting to do what's best for the team and wanting to win are the main ingredients towards success.

He has NEVER proved that he values the team more than himself, and that won't change. He'd be a superstar at the local Y, and even then his team wouldn't win. If Van Gundy can't coach him, there's nobody who can.

    I agree.

I think Josh Smith is the worst team player in the NBA. His personality sucks. He brings everyone down. He plays sloppy. Very inconsistent.

Move #1 made the Pistons... Perfect. Just took the first step in the right direction.

I bet Sacramento will pick up this loser. They deserve each other, a loser player and a loser franchise. I read somewhere that the Kings are trying to trade for Derron Williams. Lol, why would anyone want to trade for Derron Williams?

Could you imagine a lineup of Rudy Gay, Derron Williams, Josh Smith and Demarcus Cousins

I give Stan Van Gundy credit... isn't he in full control of the roster movements now?

He must of seen his attitude in certain situations during the game while in a timeout and/or at practice. He has the personality to bring everyone down. Ballzy move by Gundy.

He needs to go to a team like the Spurs who don't put up with any shit. If he finds a team that he fits in to he will become a very very good player. the only knock on him while he was in Atlanta was his shot selection, apart from that, he was better value than Joe johnson. His attitude sucks, but so would anyones when your playing for the shit Pistons. Even if he went to the Clippers, Doc could control him, he would make that roster very very dangerous. I hate to say it, but if he gets into a good system, he will prove a lot of people wrong. can anyone say ZBo or Sheed?????

Josh Smith has committed to play for the Houston Rockets after he clears waivers at 5:00 pm EST.

Given his outstanding relationship with Dwight Howard and Houston's promise to put him in the starting lineup, this move was expected. It's a little interesting that the Rockets were so intrigued with Smith given how inefficient he is, but maybe he can turn things around and provide a boost to their playoff aspirations. Terrence Jones and Donatas Motiejunas' value takes a huge hit with this news, but owners should use a wait-and-see approach to see how things pan out.

In only his second game I watched josh smith make a few jump passes that led to turnovers and fast break points for Spurs, a few unnecessary long two point misses, and benched for the most part of 4th qtr in Spurs game
