Have you ever noticed that these so-called Sharps or Wise Guys usually just take the points? If you watch ESPN's Millman/Cowherd show they'll tell you that the wise guys are on Jacksonville +14 or Tennessee +12. Really?! Is it wise/sharp to put your hard-earned $$ on crap teams like the Jags or Titans when they're playing far superior teams like Philly or Indy? I personally can't stand betting on bad teams. I loathe having to rely on terrible teams. They very rarely get it done.
They tell you you're a square if you consistently phone it in on teams like the Pats/Packers/Eagles/Colts/Broncos. Really?! Were you a square today if you took the Pats laying only 7 to a Lions team that cannot score?! Of course not. We outthink ourselves. Pick the team that's gonna win!! They're better and thus have a better chance of cashing your ticket.
There was an interesting thread this week where someone was asking if they ever knew of anyone who got rich betting sports. There aren't many, that's for sure. And with that knowledge I submit that "Wise Guys" are a myth. They don't exist. There are no real sharps. Every guy who walks up to the betting window is a square. At least put your money on the better team. They will screw you over less.
