Why buy the hook and not buy the half point from 197 to 196.5 too then? The difference between pushing and winning is pretty much the same as between losing and pushing at those types of odds. Pretty soon you're buying points to no end. Yeah you want to feel you at least "survived" by not losing, I get it, but financially push/win and loss/push are pretty close when the odds are near even.

In certain games, and in football (and possibly MLB over unders) there may be a possibility of buying the hook and having it be the right choice.....but this is very rare, and in fact almost statistically insignificant.
