Mets signed OF Michael Cuddyer to a two-year contract.
No word yet on the financials. Cuddyer rejected a one-year, $15.3 million qualifying offer to return to the Rockies, meaning the Mets had to surrender their first-round pick (15th overall) in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft in order to get this deal done. That's a risk for a player in his late-30s -- Cuddyer turns 36 years old next March -- but the Mets obviously feel he's a great fit for their offensive needs. Cuddyer batted .307/.362/.525 during his three-year stay with Colorado.
