I sued to pretend I was kid as a kid playing street hockey. Sometimes I would switch it up to Tony Esposito or Bernie Parent, but Dryden was always my favorite.

Here's what I mean. Watch the first few minutes of this clip. Soak it in:
(0:20) "...difference between a Blue Line and a clothesline."
(0:38) "...manifestly, it's a hockey game."
(0:48) Dryden lays it out. "...playing against a team that's better than they are."
...Dryden was Canadian. He didn't know that Americans have rebellion in their blood. He'd soon find out.

RIP, Ken. Nice writeup, nash. A few things stick out to me:
1) Knew he had a short career. Didn't realize he retired quite that young.
2) That's a ton of success (team/individual) in a short span. Props, Ken!
3) I'll remember him being the color-man on the 1980 Olympics USA Hockey series. To be honest, Al Michaels carried the show. No discredit to Dryden. It was more about Al coming into his own. Michaels was brilliant on the USA run to gold.Leave a comment:
