Nevada does not even care about sportsbetting and can care less if NJ gets it

Its not even on their radar as far as revenue

But how is it legal for New Jersey to go over Washington D.C.'s head?
that part doesn't make sense to me

make it legal and make it legal online. Offshores aren't going anywhere but states can take a chunk of change away from offshores if they make it legal

While it is legal in Washington & Colorado it's still against federal law, feds could come in and charge store owners, suppliers etc if they wanted to but at this time they choose not to. In most all cases federal law trumps state law.

I don't think with marijuana their major corporations involve like gambling

Places like William Hill have a lot to lose if the feds come after them

It's why no sports gaming operators want to come to New Jersey

To New Jersey Meadowlands wants nothing to do with this right now

pulling for New Jersey but everything I have read this morning makes them a pretty big dog to accept bets on Sunday. Just wondering if this is the last shot for them and if they give up after this. If that is the case its going to be a long time before we get state sponsored sports betting.

I think this is their last shot so they should just go through it and face the consequences

It's amazing how hard this is to get past

It's why other states aren't even attempting it

I hope it passes for the Jersey boys here

I would disagree. Vegas and the NFl. NBA, NCAA etc. Have a consolidation of power. If other states legalize sports gaming the consolidation is lost if Vegas and the leagues can't bring in the new states to the consolidation of power then you may have total anarchy with players actually winning.
States who pass laws allowing sports gaming should have ironclad provisions that stop outside influence and alliances. Only alliance should be directly to Governors office who upon seeking and winning Governor of said state should take on all responsibility of the gaming industry with strict transparency and laws that would penalize Governors with prison time if any alliance is made without the peoples approval and or knowledge.
Now, i need some winners for this week

There's 2 stipulations and they only concern collegiate teams, not Pro's:

    1. No betting on any collegiate events involving New Jersey schools (no matter where the event is held).. i.e. no betting on Rutgers, period.

    2. No betting on any collegiate events that take place in New Jersey (regardless if they involve a New Jersey collegiate team or not).. i.e. no betting on a Notre Dame vs. Syracuse game held at Met Life Stadium.

The NFL, NCAA and other professional sports leagues have filed a lawsuit Monday in the hopes of preventing New Jersey from allowing sports betting this weekend, according to ESPN's David Purdum.

My question is, "Who cares what a judge says?" Isn't that ultimately the NJ position? A judge is impotent. He can declare unconstitutional things all day long, but if no one enforces the supposed laws on the books, it doesn't matter.

How is this any different than marijuana issues currently? Technically, the DOJ could go in an bust every state for marijuana but they've deemed it silly, too much effort, or are just waiting for someone politically to make an example of.

Goes to show how dumb politicians and govt officials are. They have no idea what the public actually does as far as
betting on games. From local bookies, pick 'em tickets, football/ baseball squares and between friends. Then you
    have us degenerates betting offshore.

Their main concern is how do they get a piece of it and how to tax it.

Exactly the same in health care. No idea, they themselves have a gold plated plan --- big gov't likes to score points acting like they are doing something for you

been thinking about that too, but Christie and the Senator both said they want consent from the judge in order to 'eliminate the possibility of future expensive litigation'.

the fact is, however, by Christie signing the Senator's bill, privatized sports betting is now officially decriminalized within the State. that's big and nothing can change that. at the very least, it creates a grey area where an operation could move forward in theory.
