SD Chargers - Legit Contenders or Phony Pretenders?

I don't know what to make of the Chargers, can they win the AFC with Rivers?
They need Ryan Matthews completely healthy when he comes back.

Bengals look like the team to beat, but can Dalton lead them to the promised land?
Patriots are no longer the dominant team they once were, Brady's role is pretty much 'game manager' now.
    Pats running attack lacks teeth.

    So....
Can the Chargers represent in the Super Bowl this year?

I never know what to make of them.
    Defense looks decent.
Rivers is somehow doing well (he just looks horrible out there, like every pass should be a wobbly one)

Sooner or later though, San Diego will falter, I don't think they have a chance in playoffs (if they make it)

But I just can't stand to watch Rivers throw the ball, so maybe that's why I don't think they'll do good.

I like their team if they were healthy but they are not without Woodhead and Matthews the offense is not the same and other smaller injuries as well

    neither.

they are who we thought they were. Middle of the pack type team who be in the running for a wild card spot and 1st round exit.

    business as usual.

SD won @CIN in the playoffs last year. With DEN looking like the big fav, SD is one team that can upset them.

They can play on the road, so yes. They've also got the personel to play with Seattle, so they could win the Super Bowl if they get that far.

I'd definitely take them over Denver or Cincinnati. Especially Cincinnati.

I am really beginning to wonder about you now jj posting an avatar like that!

I would gather you were a Michael Sam supporter.

That group screamed about the BB player Collins and this clown just to help them keep their jobs.

Their performances both sucked! Even Jerry Jones said Sam was no where near ready to play in the NFL.

They definitely proven me wrong against Seattle and Rivers need to join that 2004 class with Eli and Big Ben with at least a SB ring before he retires.

Agreed...wait until they play the St Louis rams, then we'll have a good idea where they stand. Until then, lets get real and settle down with the "chargers look to be decent" threads.

They were 7 and 2 on the road last year if you include the SB win.

Guys were gonna have to wait until October 23rd to find out if this team is good.

Assuming playing at mile high would be a "decent" win

As a Giants fan, this pains me to say this, Cowboys could give 'Hawks a game.
Packers are not going anywhere, Bears are shaky, Saints haven't impressed me, right now, looks like the two best NFC teams are Seattle and Dallas. (maybe 'Zona gets thrown in the mix)

They're legit. Mike mccoys a stud. I don't even like rivers but he's played at an extremely high level since beginning of last season. Chargers are the giant slayers, huge wins over some of the top teams in football over this+last season. They aren't sexy but they just get it done. McCoy one of te better game planners out there.

Lets not get carried away yet...SD has had some huge injuries already! Donald Brown ran for like 20 yds yesterday against one of NFL bottom feeders....they lost their center to IR already. Rivers can only do so much. Denver has a ton of new guys that haven't played together much so I expect them to get much better and they're already healthier than SD

I wouldn't say huge. Granted Hardwick is a great center, but SD easily has the best center depth in the NFL. I think SD had a backup plan because Hardwick is getting up there in age. Ohrenberger and Legursky have been around long enough to stabilize that position for SD.

JAX has major obstacles, as a team, but they are primarily on offense. JAX actually has decent defensive front.

diehard chargers fan here but several areas need addressing. oline needs more depth especially at center..how many botched snaps in past 2-3 years,

zero running game at the moment but losing woodhead bigger loss than mathews. mathews fumbles too much and lacks durability. oliver reminds me a little of sproles
    definitely needs to,help,d brown

2 yds per carry not going anywhere in playoffs but theres time to heal but need to,sign some depth at rb

not enough pressure on qb...made bortles look like a vet
linebackers cant stay healthy. teo, butler english
scifres and novak stellar. good mix of receivers. royal, allen, floyd, gates and green

    return game needs major improvement

I have over 8 wins and +4500 to win the SB.

so knowing that they'll probably go one and done in the playoffs.

But they take it up a notch this team still has a chip on their shoulders......Seattle isn't going anywhere soon...Dynasty...is what I see....Fukk the Niners!!!
